I am Lucille “Lucy” Mossman, born in Hilo and during my early child hood I was raised in Southern California then returned back to Hilo. I am a mother of 3 adult children and a grandmother of 4. At a very young age, I already knew that I was different and that I had the entrepreneur spirit in me.
My Bio:
• 1991 University of Hawaii Alumni studied Data Processing;
• 1994 obtained my State of Hawaii Massage Therapy License. schooled by Aunty Margaret Machado;
• 1999 obtained my State of Hawaii Insurance Solicitor License and sold Final Expense Insurance;
• 2003 obtained my Paralegal Certificate from the University of Hawaii and was a Paralegal Intern at the County of Hawaii Corporation Counsel;
• July 2005 obtained my Notary Commission and wandered aimlessly without any mentoring, and lastly
• January 2006 obtained my Real Estate Sales License and sold homes and raw land predominately on the East side of the Big Island.
I am the owner of Hawaii Fast Signing since 2006 and Maika’i Mobile notary.
This is how it all started off….
Back in 2006 as I was working part time as a Realtor and in the afternoon’s I would drive to Hawaiian Beaches and work for a signing agency.I was there a few months until my son hurt himself and medivaced to Queen’s Hospital. He was badly injured resulting in me having to quit my job and care for him.
I was not employed long enough, therefore, I was ineligible for unemployment.
I thought to myself: “This work is something I can do.” So, I went ahead and purchased a rinky d**k HP printer/fax machine. … “the humble days”. I would receive PDF files,,,and printed loans. It was quite a task.
During 2008, I was in full rev. By then I was able to obtain a professional full size printer, copier, scanner. I was traveling the entire island, at times closing 5 loans per day. Hardly got any sleep but I was at least independent single mother/grandmother.
It has been nearly 10 years since I have been fully self employed as a Signing Agent, Mobile Notary Service.
To clarify ….
There are two different things that I do. First I am a commissioned notary…I service walk in clients at my office or I offer mobile notary services. I travel to where ever the customer needs me. such as their home, job, hospital, adult care homes…where ever. At times I need to bring along a witness or two.
Then there is Hawaii Fast Signing …Where I solicit myself as a Signing Agent specializing in closing Home Loans, any Real Estate Transaction, etc.
My job consists of random phone calls, emails, text messages where I need to be available at all hours.
I must have a good idea of travel time, demographics of the island, such as the terrain and subdivisions, and above all cost…for paper goods, toner and my mileage.
As a “Signing Agent” I must know how to describe important documents to the signer/borrower.
Such as,,,where to find your interested rate, who lender is, when is your first payment due, when does your note mature which is all spelled out on your NOTE.
Where to find your pay offs, if you’re expecting a disbursement or if you owe money for your closing….You’ll find this on your SETTLEMENT STATEMENT.
I must point out your MORTGAGE and how you are vested or hold title with the Bureaus of Conveyances.
Above all, I must know my place as a Notary Public first then my title as a Signing Agent.
What I truly do is present you with your loan documents, provide you with a complete copy and briefly describe your loan and the terms.
Make sure you present a Valid (unexpired) Government ID. One which bears your photo and signature.
What I’M NOT
As a Signing Agent…I am not a Loan Officer, Escrow or Title Officer, Appraiser, or Lawyer. All of which requires a special license.
Anything that has to do with closing your loan, it is my job to find the answer. Whether it is in your documents or most times it’s a complex answer that only a Escrow or Loan Officer would have the answer to. Especially since they know your loan intimately.
• A conventional couple signing usually takes 1 hour and Consisting of 130
• A Veterans Loan usually takes 1.5 hours Consisting of 160 pages
• A Reverse Mortgage usually takes 1-1.5 hours Consisting of 150 pages (elderly people require a little more time)
• A Purchase Home Loan including VA docs 1.5-2 Hours Consisting of 200 pages
The Fees vary depending on whether an Agency is hiring me or hired directly from a Title Escrow Company.
MOBILE NOTARY NON FINANCIAL
A good understanding of legal verbiage and a law dictionary is very helpful.
Adminstering Oaths, Notarizing Wills, Trusts, Estates, all types of Powers of Attorney’s, Vehicle Transfers, Medical Directives, Bank Joint Accounts, Written statements, Affidavits, of all types, it’s what I’m versed in.
My hours of operation is: Monday through Friday 8-6 pm. Saturday’s 9-3 pm. Sunday’s on call. Office usually not open unless I’m in with the NEON NOTARY LIGHT ON.
On Call All Hours…Usually after hours I will not answer, rather I will let it ring and return call by texting.
