While we are enjoying the warm weather, our local alligators are too. April and May mark their season of movement and mating. Hungry and basking more often, adult males are actively searching for mates while young gators venture out, leaving their homes for new waters.

🐊 Extra caution is a must near any body of water. This includes man-made bodies of water that are common in residential and commercial areas.
🐊Alligators pose dangers to both pets and people. Steer away from walking your dogs around bodies of water. Be very cautious of allowing children to play around bodies of water.
🐊Do not feed alligators or try to approach them.
🐊 Stay aware, stay safe and give these ancient reptiles the space they deserve.

Here's some history for our Coligny fans! In 1955, Norris Richardson saw a vision for Hilton Head’s future and made history. With no bridge to the island, he ferried over every building supply to construct a 100 x 100-foot store—the Forest Beach Super Market—the first business on the south end of Hilton Head Island. 🏝️ Known today as the Piggly Wiggly!

This cornerstone of the community helped shape the vibrant island we know today! 💙
