Manatees have no "biting" teeth, only "grinding" teeth. A manatee's teeth (all molars) are constantly being replaced. New teeth come in at the back of the jaw and move forward horizontally about a centimeter a month. The front molars eventually fall out and are replaced by the teeth behind them.

Hilton Head is home to several different species of sea stars! If they lose an arm, they are able to regenerate it, so if you find one on the beach, leave it there even if it doesn't look like it will survive! It will come back better and stronger than before! Don't we all wish we could be so resilient?
