Get ready to spread some cheer at the second annual Christmas Tree Lighting at Lowcountry Celebration Park. Watch as the park comes to life with hundreds of twinkling lights. Enjoy talented local performers, carols, a family-friendly holiday movie, and even hot cocoa. Hilton Head Island Fire Rescue will es**rt Santa to this event. Spread some holiday generosity by interacting with representatives of local non-profits as they share ways to give back to the community during this special time of year. Admission: Free

Holiday Nights and Lights
December 2-4, from 6 to 8 pm

This annual drive-thru event brightens up the park with lights and music, all centered around a holiday theme.

Join us in celebrating the Jewish holiday, Hanukkah! This event includes the lighting of the Menorah, latkes, and sufganiyot (traditional Hanukkah food), playing dreidel games, live music, and more. Make a difference in the community by contributing to a holiday collection to support needy individuals. Admission: Free
In addition to the holiday lighting festivities, the Town of Hilton Head Island's Fire Rescue Department will host its annual lineup of holiday events to celebrate the season.

Please do not feed the gators. "A fed gator is a dead gator." This baby seems to surface and come right towards the sound of people. When they associate people with food they become aggressive. This youngster is in the lagoon next to the boardwalk.

Ocean breezes and gentle waves....

Sure there are beaches on both coasts of the United States and all over the world for that matter; however, you will be hard pressed to find one with consistently gentle waves and hard packed sand like on Hilton Head Island. When I discovered this beach it quickly became my favorite. I have been to more beaches than I could possibly list but THIS ONE is by far my favorite. For many years I had no idea what else was on the island as I would wake up early and hit the beach, only retreating back to our villa when the sun went down. I can easily stay satisfied on the beach for twelve hours.

Guess what?? The surrounding area is amazing! It is home to many great restaurants. Sure, I have my favorites, but we try out at least two new restaurants every visit. In addition to restaurants there are wildlife sanctuaries, golf courses and miles of bike paths. If shopping is your thing, hop across the bridge to hit the outlets in Bluffton.

There are so many places nearby for day trips as well. Stroll around Savannah, climb the lighthouse on Hunting Island or take the ferry to Daufuskie Island. No matter what your interests are, there is something for everyone.
