Hazel, the rooster, needs a new home. He is an Americauna, 6 years old, has some leg issues (no toenails due to a fight with his son about a year ago, and his scales are growing back after a bout with scaly leg mites). He's otherwise healthy, crows a lot, and is pretty rowdy. Hence the reason that he has to go. Any leads would be appreciated.

It's time for another round of Name! That! Chicken!

I have four chicks to name. They should all be female (hopefully). There is a theme for the year and all the chicken names fit into that theme. Prior themes include: Vermont town names, Bob Dylan songs, trees and plants, Grateful Dead/Phish songs, colors, and things that go with chicken (Dixie, Prairie, Phunky).

Kindred Spirit Farm

The remaining four goats, Victory, Jasper, Captain and Tennille, are soon going to travel to New Hampshire to live at Kindred Spirit Farm. I'm sad about losing them, but they will have a much better home there than what I can currently offer them. Thank you Donna. http://www.facebook.com/ #!/pages/Kindred-Spirit-Farm/117721084954358?fref=ts

We are a small farm located just outside of the quaint village of Sandwich, NH. Our focus is on raising 1927 Standard Fine Fleece Shetland Sheep.

PLEASE HELP! I need a home for 9 hens and 2 roosters local to Hinesburg, VT, where they will be loved and cared for. I do not want the roosters or the older hens to be killed. If you have any leads, please contact the person FIRST and once the interest is confirmed, give me their information. I cannot spend time getting ahold of strangers who have no interest in taking them.

I need a home for my eight angora goats either as one herd or broken down into sets of two and three. If anyone has any leads at all, please contact them FIRST to determine if they are really interested and if they are, then send me their name and phone number.

Oh pretty please, someone take a couple of roosters off my hands. I think we have four little roos, plus the two adult roos. That's a few too many.

06/29/2012

We need to re-home a couple of roosters. Anyone have room for one? They are Americauna mixes and have been handled a lot so they are very comfortable with people. They'll protect your ladies by pointing out dangers and will direct them to good sources of food.

We will never, ever, use MyPetChicken.com again. The chicks were supposed to arrive originally on about Feb 28th and there was a shortage of Plymouth Rocks due to hatching problems. OK, I understand. The shipment was rescheduled for April 9th and I provided a list of about 10 different breeds for substitution in case of another shortage. On the 9th I received an email saying that unless they called me that everything was good to go. On the 10th, no chicks arrived so I called to check if they had been shipped and was told that they had. On the 11th, no chicks arrived. This evening I got a phone call that they not only did not ship, but they now have a shortage of Cuckoo Marans and they can reschedule my shipment for May 24th. Then maybe, just maybe, I could get an entirely different set of breeds than what I ordered. Really? No, I've had enough. At this point they're not going to be laying until November! Never again will I recommend or use this company.

The peeps are en route! Pictures coming soon.

It's time once again for Name That Chicken! Seven peeps will arrive on Tuesday and they need names. We have an annual theme so we can keep track of their ages. Past themes have included Bob Dylan songs (Sara, Corrina, Maggie), days of the week (duh!), trees and flowers (Hazel, Lily, Olive), Phish & Grateful dead songs (Althea, Millie Grace, Esther) and things that go with chicken (Prairie, Phunky, Dixie). We need seven girls' names with a theme. Ready? GO!

Wicked Good Farm is looking for retail outlets that would like to carry Green Mountain Llama Beans, our organic fertilizer made in Vermont. We're also looking for a couple of sales reps to market to dispensaries, gardening supply stores, and eco-goods stores. If you have any connections, send them my way.

Note to self: do not leave a hammer at the top of a ladder and then move the ladder. This causes it to fall on your skull.

would like to purchase a small trailer if anyone has leads on one. Something with a ramp and preferrably enclosed or able to be modified to be enclosed.

07/12/2011

is considering starting a Rent-a-Goat landscaping service. There are actually quite a few of these across the country, but I don't think there are any locally. Goats could eat your weeds!

Happy 10th birthday to Bosra, king of the llamas, recipient of many scratches, and all around good boy.

05/09/2011

Our newest kid has arrived! It's a boy and we need name suggestions.

is expecting a new kid on May 10th. Victory and Chuck are proud parents to be.

has a we**am coming in the mail soon. What shall we call it? Llama-cam? Critter-cam? Farm-cam?

Finally a use for all of those feathers...

10/16/2010

Sara the chicken got caught in the rat trap. Luckily it's a hav-a-hart and there was chicken food in there for bait.

10/15/2010

Chico the suri alpaca is coming soon. He and Captain have a date with the vet on the 27th for the minor procedure dreaded by many male critters everywhere.

10/04/2010

All of the chickens are molting at once and making a feather explosion and few eggs. Mable has decided that the corner of the boy goats' stall is a good place to hide her eggs, but everyone else has stopped entirely.
