The final round of the trip took us to the two time Ryder Cup venue, and Open Championship qualifying course that is Southport & Ainsdale golf club.
Founded in 1906, this fantastic links was until recently one of the courses that flew under the radar in this part of the world, with regard to overseas visitors. Nowadays it attracts many visitors who come and enjoy the golfing experience on offer here.
We were blessed with blue skies and temperatures touching 80 degrees, so a fitting end to what has been a great 9 days over here.

The penultimate round of the trip found us at a breezy Royal Lytham & St. Annes Golf Club.
Another course to have hosted many major golf events, Royal Lytham provides a different test of golf. Unusually for a links course it does not sit besides the sea and even without towering sand dunes, the rough, wind and its 160+ bunkers gives you plenty to think about whilst plotting your way around. Our very personable caddies Andrew and Neil did a great job and provided lots of background and history about this very traditional club.

After our two days in the beautiful Lake District, it was time for the final three rounds of the golf sector of the trip.
First we had what is considered by many as the best golf course in England, Royal Birkdale. The club has played host to ten Open Championships, Ryder Cups, Women's Opens, Men's Senior Open and the PGA Championship, amongst others.
A cloudy and cool start to the round was soon replaced by blue skies and warm sunshine, on a surprisingly calm day here in the North West of England. With Steve and Chris on the bags, we had two of the best in the business guiding us around this challenging but fair test of golf.

Today we left the bikes behind and took a five hour hike from Ambleside to Grasmere, with a stop at the famous gingerbread shop, before taking the "coffin route" back to Ambleside.
This trail was used in the old days to transport the dead for burial in Grasmere, following a route around the beautiful Rydal water and below Nab Scar.

After three days of golf it was time for a change of scenery, up in the Lake District national park.
We arrived promptly to meet Anna our guide for the day and set off on a full days cycling tour, taking us through the South Lakes area which included a crossing on the Windermere ferry, from Bowness.
Thankfully we all had e bikes, so we could tackle the steep terrain that we encountered, frequently ! An excellent lunch in the Drunken Duck split up our day, and gave us the energy required for the second half of the tour.

Next up was Formby Golf Club, another of the top courses lined up on the North West coast of England. Founded in 1884, the club has a rich history of hosting some great amateur tournaments, along with the Senior PGA championship in 2021 and 2022.
Whilst we lost the sunshine today, we held onto warm and pretty much dry weather for the duration of the round. Great help again from John the caddie master, ably assisted by Josh.

The second day of the trip took us to Hillside Golf Club.
Not the most sociable group of members here, however the course is excellent, especially from holes 7-12.
Once again we had perfect golfing weather and great help from our caddies, Sean and Charlie. When visiting the North West coast of England this course is well worth playing, if your existing itinerary has not already included it.

On arrival back from Ireland, we immediately welcomed our next clients who have come to play the wonderful stretch of golf on offer in North West England.
Our first stop was at Royal Liverpool Golf Club, the host course of last year's Open Championship. With clear blue skies and unusually low winds, it made for a tremendous afternoon of top quality links golf. Dean and George did a great job on the bags, to add to what was already a fantastic golfing experience.
