If you've been to the heart of Beavers Bend State Park then you know exactly what this sculpture is.

Peter Toth Native American Sculpture:

Located near the main entrance of the Forest Heritage Center, this Whispering Giant Sculpture is one in a 50 state series known as the "Trail of Tears" sculptures by Hungarian artist, Peter Toth.
Mr. Toth came to Oklahoma to sculpt Oklahoma's Native American monuments. Mr. Toth's goal in life was to complete at least one sculpture in each of the fifty states. This is #30 of 67 sculpted in 1979.

All of his monuments are his own concept of the North American Indian and bear many similarities, except for certain characteristics, which pertain to the Native Americans of that region, such as feathers, headbands, or other decorations.

We were so excited to have the opportunity to take Teddy Owens on a rainy day hike today!

They were in the area filming for another ad showcasing some things to do in our area.

We are looking forward to the finished edition of today's adventure!

First Day Hike of 2023 was absolutely amazing!

Several showed up to finally get a view of the newest trail (Rattlesnake Bluff Trail) & learned a few tidbits of historical information along the way. Those in attendance even got to witness the removal for relocation of the mystery stone with a name carved in it.

This stone was found earlier last year & is set to eventually be put on display inside Beavers Bend State Park Forest Heritage Center.

I've included a pic of the stone taken on the day we took 7 archeologists out back in November. They did an all natural cleaning & restoration process that they use to help restore old grave markers so that the carvings would be more visible without damaging the stone itself.

This trail is rated more of a moderate to difficult level & consists of 4.4 miles in & back out. Gorgeous creekside views about 1 mile in followed with amazing views of Mountain Fork River below the Bluff about 2 miles in.
