With temps in the 80s here in Michigan, the upcoming holiday season is probably not on your mind. Teaching moment coming in....

I received a phone call this morning from a distressed traveller who has been stuck in St Lucia for 5 days past their original travel dates due to the mess with Delta Airlines. (I know, I know, there are way worse places to be stuck) However, this poor traveller and his group are ready to come home and be back in the US. They have already spent an additional 5 nights at their accommodation plus food, drinks, additional time off work that they were not originally planning on. Delta has no future flights available for them to be placed on and they are feeling stuck.

Here comes the problem....

They didn't book their trip with me. In fact, they didn't book their trip with a travel agent at all. And while I gave them some advice to hopefully point them in the right direction of a solution, there is nothing I can legally do to assist them due to not having access rights to their booking. So while this group has been stuck on the phone for days calling Delta and trying to come home, all I could do was advise them on what to do next. The advice I gave them will hopefully get them home soon but it will not be cheap.

Lesson....

Travel agents value soars far beyond just booking your trip and saying "have fun!" When disaster strikes, we step in with resources that no one else has and give you the best odds for handling your situation. So don't forget your local travel agent when thinking about planning your next trip. It could save you time, money, and a whole lot of headache.

to January 2020. My husband and I went with friends to Jamaica. What a blast! Here was us at the YS Falls. is located on Jamaica's South Coast near the Black River in St. Elizabeth Parish. It was breathtaking to see all the winding falls and even zipline off one.

🚢 Oasis of the Seas continued...

This was my second time on the Oasis of the Seas by but extra special because I got to vacation with my whole family! There was SO much to do on this ship, as one of Royal's largest ships. The food was outstanding, so many pools and slides for the kids to enjoy and other activities like shows, a zip line, mini golf, karaoke, kids and teens clubs, shopping, a spa, and so much more! We had beautiful beach days in Labadee, Haiti and Coco Cay (Royal Caribbean's privately owned islands) and rented a boat during our stop on St. Thomas. It was wonderful to spend this time with my kids and grandkids - highly recommend the Oasis to any family looking for a cruise that will suit all ages!
