Did you know that if you stay with us at MI Happy Place you only need to pack a swimsuit and suntan lotion to enjoy a sunfilled day at the beach? We are located less than 200 steps from the Manatee Public Beach and its pristine white sand and each villa is equipped with a beach wagon, umbrella, cooler, beach chairs and towels. ‼️ Long post ~ but necessary ‼️

I wanted to post this text once more since it was kind of hidden in the video reel.

Although the hurricanes delivered a huge amount of destruction to MI Happy Place AMI, we feel very blessed this week. When we became owners of the property in 2018 we, like many others, loved the Old Florida feel of the island. Rather than tear down and build huge homes, we chose to preserve the quaint, charming feel of AMI.

The risk in that became reality in late September when all four villas were impacted with flood water from Hurricane Helene. But out of struggle comes opportunity as well!

We owe a huge gratitude to many people that, just three months later, we have been able to welcome guests again. Not only to welcome them, but to offer a place with some fantastic upgrades!

Our list of who we’ve been blessed by is long. Thanks to the city of Holmes Beach for approving reconstruction. Thanks to our general contractor Todd Radabach at REMCO building. Thanks to painter Noel from Shaw & Co. To carpenter Anthony, Ron and his plumbing crew, Zeb and his electricians, Sam and his tile guys. Shout out to Gulf2Bay Pools and the Splash Squad for the amazing pool recovery work. We can’t forget Miguel and his landscaping crew at M&F Landscape either!

All of that was just the rebuild! We also needed to refurnish and decorate the entire property and have great friends that volunteered their own time to travel to the island and help - thanks Jerry, Lee and Jeff ❤️ We had great help from our partners at Island Vacation Properties as well.

The video from a previous post shows our Sea Turtle villa, but as of yesterday they’re all rebuilt to the same standard, and we’re welcoming guests to this amazing island again😎❤️🌴

That’s where we, the owners, call home! We will be on the island this week though - gotta put the villas back together after the hurricane repairs. Who knows where we can go to watch our Lions beat the Vikings on Sunday evening??

Morning shoutout to Cheesecake Cutie and all the small business folks on the island! They have it tough right now. This place and the owners are amazing people with a great attitude - in the toughest of times 😢. They have bills to pay and mouths to feed, but you can see at 8:50am on a Saturday that this place is empty.
Our island is still our island, even when it’s hurting. If you love it here, make or keep a reservation - wherever you can find that’s open. Support the recovery. Go to the beach - it’s still beautiful.

Looking for an update on MI Happy Place? While Hurricanes Helene and Milton brought challenges, our property and the island are bouncing back stronger than ever. UPDATE! We have not been able to get anyone we know back to the island for pictures or anything yet. While still needing to handle flood damage from Helene, we did not incur any additional storm surge flooding from Milton.

The island did suffer an extensive amount of wind damage. These pictures from a helicopter capture a corner of MI Happy Place AMI. Initial look is that the roof and structure are intact on one of the buildings. It appears as though a very large palm did fall across the pool deck/fences and into the neighboring property.
Still don’t know for certain (and it may be a few more days before we do), but considering what could’ve been, we were blessed!
