🏡🌊 Great News for Holmes Beach Property Owners! 🌊🏡

The City of Holmes Beach has earned an improved Community Rating System (CRS) Class 5 rating from the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), providing property owners with a 25% discount on flood insurance premiums! 🎉 Previously rated Class 6 (20% discount), our city has made significant strides in floodplain management and resilience.

Key efforts that contributed to this achievement include:
✅ Stormwater education & outreach (Flood Awareness Week, brochures, social media)
✅ Elevation certificate audits & building permitting excellence
✅ Adoption of freeboard regulations & floodplain ordinance amendments
✅ Floodplain Species Assessment & Plan adoption
✅ Acquisition of vacant parcels for conservation & preservation
✅ Development of a Public Information Program (PPI)

Even more exciting, Holmes Beach has already accumulated enough points for a Class 4 rating (30% discount) but must first complete a Watershed Master Plan. Work is already underway with the help of the Public Works Department, and once completed, we will submit for reclassification!

Not only are we close to the beach, shopping, and restaurants. We are right next to the public boat ramp, tennis, pickle ball, basketball, shuffle board, a play ground for the kids, and the dog park!
