Hawaiis winter wonderland ☃️ Fun Facts:
Mauna Kea, meaning “White Mountain,” is named for its seasonal snow, a rare sight in a tropical paradise. It’s one of the only places in the world where you can surf and play in the snow on the same day. Measured from its ocean base, Mauna Kea is taller than Mount Everest. The Big Island is home to 10 of the world’s 14 microclimates, ranging from tropical rainforests and arid deserts to alpine tundra—where snow forms at Mauna Kea’s summit. Snow depends on winter storms, making it a special treat, and locals even bring skis and snowboards to enjoy the summit when it’s covered in white. ⛷️
