Buttwhackers You catch 'em, we cut 'em! Quality fish filleting conveniently located behind the Salty Dawg Saloon. Through combining the two nicknames, Buttwhackers was born.

In the late 1980s, fish filleters were given the nickname "whackers" because they literally "whacked" (or filleted) halibut. Homer, Alaska is known as the halibut fishing capital of the world, and gradually fisherman came to use the nickname "Butts" as a shorthand to refer to the species, halibut. Buttwhackers was created in 2002 to provide the dock and fillet services to charters and independentl

y owned boats. Still today, we provide fisherman and captains alike with a location to unload and hang their catch, take photos, and of course, the show of 'whacking butts'.

💥 We are closed on Wednesdays
💥 Our hours of operation are Thursday-Tuesday 12-6pm ON CALL. This means you MUST call us with at least 45 minutes heads up if you want your fish cut, because our cutters may not be down there yet!
💥 Our last day open for the season is Tuesday September 10!
