Welcome to Let’s Live Now Canal Cottage! This three bedroom, two bathroom cottage is located in beautiful Old Homosassa on a canal off of the Homosassa River!

We are a very short boat ride out to the gorgeous Gulf!

Ever since I was a little girl, I always dreamed of running a bed and breakfast. I watched movies like “Holiday Inn” and “White Christmas” and shows like “Newhart” and knew that one day I wanted to be able to make people happy with a cozy spot and make them feel welcome away from their homes. I am so amazingly happy that even though I am not there with them, I can still do this from afar! It makes my little girl heart so happy! I absolutely love making people smile. It’s what makes me tick! Come stay with us soon! 💜

It’s the little things that should make us happy! For me, I was excited to add my new gator and lizard friends to our Happy Cottage! One of the things that makes us happiest about going to the cottage is our visitors that the kids have named “George and Harley”. We know nothing about herons, but the kids like to think of them as husband and wife. The kiddos often take their fishing gear outside to catch a meal for George and Harley who come every single day. George always makes sure to go find his wife and bring her back for some fish. They love our oldest daughter so much (our avid fisherman in the family) that every day they wait at the back door for her to come outside. They are so darn sweet!
The guests today commmented on how George and Harley were there waiting for them at check in ❤️

So happy to have some fun lights up for our guests! Slowly, but surely, we will have an awesome exterior place to hang out that is fun, cozy and welcoming! We cannot wait to tackle the backyard and dock!

Every time we come to the cottage, we make sure to get a lot of work done to improve the stay for our wonderful guests! This time we added a comfy cushioned bench to the end of the master bed so our guests have a place to put their shoes on, unpack their suitcases, and watch TV, put outside lights up among many other odds and ends, but my favorite improvement is our oak tree swing!

We have a beautiful tree in the front yard that I’ve dreamed about decorating since we bought the cottage! We strung it with lights and hung a swing. I am so excited! Next we are going to have a sign made with the cottage name for a wonderful vacation photo op spot for guests. What a fun and cute little spot at the cottage!

We cannot wait for our next check in! This week we have Wednesday and Thursday evening open due to a last minute cancellation if you want to come see what all the fun is about! We also have a few days left in April and a bulk of May with open dates! We would love to have you stay with us! ❤️❤️

Our previous guest’s beautiful picture of kayaking on The Chassahowitzka River. They said it was their favorite spot on their whole trip!

One of my favorite guests so far! This lovely guest was a last minute booking because she needed a break from her house and wanted to come relax with her friend! She was amazing and made my week! A little kindness and happiness goes such a long way!
Even if it is last minute, we would love to host you! I have a couple of days left in January and February, and still some weekends available in April! We would love you to come stay with us at the cottage!

It’s taken a lot of patience, (maybe I’ve lost some sleep, aged a few years, lost some hair), AND has been a GIANT learning curve, but all of that is worth our first posted review on VRBO!

One down! Hopefully the reviews keep rolling in!

Right before we came down to the house, our sixth wonderful group of guests checked out. We really had no idea how fast our little home rental would take off! We are so thankful to come “home” to our notes! They always fill our hearts! Here are the newest since we visited the cottage last. ❤️

Fun stop today! Florida Cracker Monkey Bar for some drinks and a golf cart rental with our 14 year old DD 😳
Taking a tour of the town and the oldest is getting some driving practice before her permit. It’s legal here!
The best part is, we’re five minutes from home!

A beautiful day visiting Cedar Key. About an hour north of the cottage. A beautiful little gulf side town that reminds us of a cross between Sea Isle City, NJ and Key West. We ate a wonderful lunch at 29 North at 83 West and watched the pelicans eat the entire time. Best part is, the local Island Trading Post sells Florida Orange Groves Wine (if you are a frequent Epcoter, you’ll know why that’s exciting!) What a nice family day!

77 and sunny today on the canal. I love walking outside in the sunshine and hearing the sounds of nature and the low music of neighbors enjoying their Saturday. Come down and stay at the cottage! You’ll love it!

After a long day the our family working on the cottage for more guests, we just sat down to some live music on the river. Best part…a five minute walk from the house! The Shed At MacRae's. Can’t wait to host you!

Today we had our fourth round of super happy guests check in! I am seriously loving helping to you make these guests vacations so comfortable and happy! Everyone has been so unbelievably kind, awesome, and complimentary! It fills my heart!!! I would do this a hundred times a day! I feel blessed! Happy Holidays from Let’s Live Now Canal Cottage! ❤️

One last fun stop before we say goodbye! The Freezer is right down the street from the cottage! Within walking, biking, and kayaking distance! Take the kayaks over to this awesome seafood restaurant and get a killer dinner! And the holiday lights seriously cannot be beat!

When you visit the cottage, make sure you stop at the amazing Friends of Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park. It’s an amazing place! Now through March, the manatees migrate from the Gulf of Mexico to the warm springs of this area! Here and Crystal River are fabulous spots to watch the manatees! Just be careful with your boat prop in the local waters. Protect these beauties!
