So let’s face it, this winter has left long for Finger Lakes! For those who love to ski, I’m so happy for you! For the rest of the folks, we do look forward to spring. Just a few more weeks and the shop will be back open and we hope to uplift the spirit!

What is there not to love about daffodils! One of the initial signs of spring’s approach when their tender green leaves push through the garden soil! Then they’re beautiful faces in yellow, white or a pop of orange! Although tulips are another favorite, I love that the bunnies and deer leave the daffodils alone so we can all enjoy them in the garden! Although I’m a lover of fresh flowers, I do love our Bloom Bar at the shop. It lets us keep our garden looking good and when there are not enough fresh blooms to bring inside, we can make a beautiful arrangement inside with our forever bloom (faux) flowers. This spring we will have Daffodils joining our tulips in the Bloom Bar! Also Forsythia blooms and Cherry Blossoms in white will be apart of the mix. We can’t wait! Would you like some in store tutorials on putting together some arrangements? Let me know and we’ll see what we can put together! In the meantime, I’m dreaming of daffodils! It’s been ages since I’ve been able to sit and get lost in a book! I highly recommend it! Our down time from the Shop has been really good for my soul and it’s allowed me and Dan to rejuvenate and be inspired for all we are planning for the shop this spring and summer season! Back to the reading…The book was a good one, especially with my passion for gardens and dreaming of the past. Interestingly enough, I had not shared with anyone that I was reading the book and hadn’t mentioned the title to Dan and oddly enough, Facebook just happened to send me a prompt on my feed with the book cover…🤔now that was something. Anyhoo…I’m on to my next novel and don’t worry we are busy getting things prepped for our 3/13 re-opening. Check out some of our spring previews on our link.

Happy heavenly Birthday Dad! Today he would be 89. Dad loved having his birthday near Valentine’s Day. That meant he could spoil us with valentine hearts filled with chocolates and we would usually share them with him. Mom would do her best and make a homemade cake in different shapes…usually a valentine. They always tasted delicious but a little funny looking. This photo was taken at my neice Carlin’s graduation from Nazareth. Every day I still miss dad and Mom but so thankful for all they did for us and taught us. I think today he’s celebrating with all our heavenly Aunties and Uncles, Cousins and Grandparents. Perhaps some of Grandma’s wonderful chocolate chips that he loved and a Pint of Guinness with all the Uncles.

Will always love a great Windsor type chair. I’ve been going through my photos of the homestead and love capturing little spots of interest. Keeping spirits up as snow continues. Spring will be here eventually and making plans for its great awakening. I’ve been thinking about my garden plans and we have so much in store for the Shop! Stay tuned!

Inspiring weekend show! This mornings lecture with and was so informative and loved their down to earth humor and willingness to share knowledge of their craft. So much talent! While our shop is closed for the next few weeks, we are on the road to bring back beauty and inspiration to our little Hamlet. As much as I’m ready for spring, I love these winters months to plan, dream and get ready for summer in the !

Hi Friends! Saturday 1/25 will be our last day we’re open until our reopening in 3/13! I can’t believe it but we’re taking a rest to refresh and get all geared up for spring…and it’ll all be epic! We are very excited about what’s in store for the shop and think you’ll be excited too. We’ll be sending out previews as we get closer! In the meantime, stop by to see us Saturday. January Vibes at the shop. We always love this month to reflect on the past year and holidays and plan for the year ahead. With that, I try to change up decor a bit and bring our favorite items that may be packed away. We’ve added some new bloom bar sprays and brought back favorite bird prints. More to come over the next few weeks. Stop to see us on Friday’s and Saturdays s in January. Also going on, newly added special savings on scarves, gloves and select hats, fleece clothing, jewelry and holiday decor!

Reed Homestead is a historic home built in 1803 in Upstate NY in the Finger Lakes Region. Vacationers enjoy renting the house and explore the local are of Honeoye Lake, Conesus Lake and Canandaigua. Located in the countryside, visitors enjoy the beautiful landscapes, breathtaking sunsets and the lux seclusion to escape from the hustle and bustle. History abound, the recently restored and modern amenities offers a stay that gives you a chic countryside experience.

Our Guest rental comfortably sleeps 8 and is available for a 3+ night stay. Please check our website for more information and plenty of photos highlighting the home.

The Shop at Reed Homestead which is a cozy nook at the Homestead filled with treasures tastefully curated capturing the Finger Lakes style, offered to travelers and on-line shopping.
