Did you know that in February of 1945. The USS Missouri served as anti aircraft screen for Task Force 58.2 in support of the raids on Tokyo before heading to Iwo Jima in support of the Marine Invasion forces on 19 February. The invasion forces 3d, 4th and 5th Marines. The 4th Marines are considered to be Maui’s own. They conducted landings at Maalaea and set up training site in MAKAWAO near giggle hill.
