Scenes around Budapest

It was a foggy and chilly morning as we rode a train to the largest church in Hungary. Esztergom Basilica, built in the early 1800’s. Then we traveled the Danube River to Budapest. The city is full of very old ornate buildings. We visited St Stephen’s Basilica. … the most sacred Catholic church in all of Hungary and contains its most revered relic: the mummified right hand of the church's patron, King St Stephen! After dinner, Stacy and I walked to the huge ferris wheel and rode it. The weather was beautiful today with sunny skies.

Thursday we visited Melk, Austria. Melk Abbey is one of the biggest and most beautiful Baroque style abbeys. Since 1089, the Benedictine monks have been living and working in uninterrupted tradition. The original Abbey burned and they rebuilt the current one in 1704! We could only take pictures outside. The inside was very ornate and beautiful. Then, back on the ship, we travel up the Danube through the Wachau Valley with Castle and vineyards and small towns on both sides. It was like a fairytale!

We’re having a wonderful time on our Danube River Cruise. We’re in Melk, Austria today. We are about to leave on a tour of the city. Pictures later. Here are some pictures from Passau, Germany yesterday.

Attention; If you are signed up for the Danube River Cruise and will be flying out of the Texarkana Airport, I suggest that you drive out to the new terminal before Oct 29th. . It’s beautiful! It’s not even close to the old one. I went down Hwy 67 and turned on 19th street and followed the signs. The airport opens at 4:00 am. You should be there around 4:15. We’ve had a great time, lots of laughs, lots of good food and fellowship the past 11 days. We saw beautiful colors and awesome scenery as we traveled through 16 states plus DC! This is a great group of travelers. I appreciate each one of you for allowing me to show you God’s beautiful creation! Until me meet again…..Vicki

Yesterday we had beautiful sunny day for a quick tour of some of the monuments in Washington DC. Then a delicious Brazilian Steakhouse meal to end the day.

We traveled from Vermont to New Hampshire then to Massachusetts for a delicious lunch at the Salem Cross Inn. Built in the 1700’s.

Day 3: We’ll have a guided tour of Beale Meade and learn how Christmas was celebrated in the Victorian era in 1853. This site became one of the largest thoroughbred horse farms in the South. Then we’ll have wine tasting and a 3 course meal before we head to Columbus, OH.
DAY 4: This morning we will head to Dublin, OH to visit Kilwin’s for a sweet experience. Learn the history of making high quality chocolates and other confections. After lunch we’ll head to downtown Columbus for a guided tour of the German Village, stop at the Schmidt’s Fudge House then have an authentic German meal. Our day will end with a visit to the Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens where there are thousands of twinkling lights and holiday decor plus one of the largest Chihuly Glass exhibits!
Day 5: As we travel back to Nashville, we’ll stop at the Brown Pusey House in Elizabethtown, KY for a tour. This gorgeous 1825 Georgian mansion is home to a genealogical library and Sally Pusey’s garden. After lunch we’ll still tour the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.

We had a fun day around Vermont yesterday. It sprinkled a little but then the sun came out and made the all the difference in the beautiful colors we saw. We learned how apple juice is made at the Cold Hollow Cider Mill. We learned how Ben & Jerry make Ice Cream then had some! Then we learned how maple syrup is made at Morse Sugar Shack. We learned why Emily’s Covered Bridge is haunted 😱 then made our way to the Trapp Family Lodge to learn about the family and how they inspired the movie, The Sound of Music

ATTENTION: My heart is heavy just thinking about all the destruction and the lives lost in and around Asheville,NC and what it will take to get that city back up and running. Then when you see all the stories about neighbors helping neighbors and all the companies and organizations donating supplies and then the Biltmore pledging $2,000,000.00 to help rebuild, it makes my heart happy.
IF YOU ARE SIGNED UP for my Christmas trip to Nashville and the Biltmore in November, I’m afraid we won’t be able to visit the Biltmore. I have substituted some other fun things to do in place of the Biltmore in Nashville and Columbus Ohio. I hope you won’t cancel, but if you want to miss out on the fun, I understand. Day 3. Our hotel, The Berlin Grande, last night was beautiful. So many beautiful flowers. I am starting to see some color as we enter Pennsylvania and New York. We’ll be in Niagara Falls soon!

Day 2 of our 11 day New England trip. We toured the back roads of Berlin, OH and surrounding area then had a delicious dinner in an Amish home in Sugar Creek, Ohio!
