Sunflower State Tours

We made it back home safely without bringing any ghouls with us. 🙂

We made some fun stops on the way back too! We did a detour to Hiawatha to see the GORGEOUS maple leaves and the incredible Davis Memorial. We also trick or treated at Mrs. Krebs’s grave (she is the mother of modern Halloween).
Then we followed the motto “You Must Go Ta Muscotah” to go see the World’s largest baseball, which is made out of an old water tower top, and the memorial to hometown baseball hall of famer, Joe Tinker.
We stopped and had an absolutely terrific lunch at Trails Cafe in Holton. Put it on your food bucket list!

We also explored the Atchison County Historical Society at the historic 1888 Atchison, Topeka, & Santa Fe train depot.

The hauntings here are of “Hangman” Bill, a real railroad worker who was killed while working. You can hear his footsteps going on the second floor, BUT that floor doesn’t exist anymore…ooooooooo….

Next stop we went to was the Round Mound Cemetery near Cummings, just about 15 minutes south of Atchison. It is known to be haunted and maybe even have the grave of a witch! It was a beautiful cemetery; fantastic location. We were very respectful and was worth the extra drive!

We got to explore THE Sallie House in Atchison. It is purported to be one of the most haunted places in the entire state if not even the United States! We didn’t feel anything but the girls had a tea party with Sallie. 🙂 One of those cool places you get to say you went to.

We are teaming up this weekend with Heartland Travel Adventures, LLC for a Haunted Atchison tour! So excited! On our way up we stopped and got a fantastic lunch at The Elevator in Valley Falls!

We are so sad to hear of Matt Alford’s passing of cancer. He ran Eyegore's Curiosities and Monster Museum in Cawker City. He moved to Kansas with the dream of creating a roadside attraction. And he accomplished just that!! He loved all things Bigfoot and creating new things. He was such a joy. So many thoughts and prayers to his family and friends. You will be missed so much in the town of twine.

Exciting news for Lyons!!

The City of Lyons said it arrived this morning and is located at the corner of Commercial and East Avenue.

The ladies have had a great time tasting wines and getting a tour of the facilities at 456Wineries and Valley Trails Winery. Such a great location!

We had a great shopping time and lunch at St. Mary’s.

My favorite shopping spot was Sugar Creek Country Store! The lunch there was absolutely delicious!! I had a Grilled Rachel which is Turkey, swiss cheese, coleslaw, thousand island dressing, grilled on marbled rye and I had a side of bacon maple potato salad. It was heavenly!!

Today we are partnering with Heartland Travel Adventures, LLC on a ladies outing tour with lots of shopping, driving tours, and wine! We are checking out Wamego and St. Mary’s, and other stops as well.

We started our morning with a look at the beautiful new church in St. Mary’s, Immaculata.

The bus’s AC is fixed, new wiper blades, and is all cleaned up for some more tours this summer! We also put on our new vanity license plate on the front and are ready to keep exploring Kansas!

We had a great time checking out the stone churches or Ellis County in Pfeifer, Walker, Catharine, Munjor, & Victoria!
We also had a fantastic lunch provided by the Walker Church ladies! 🙂

We were able to take a group from Heartland Travel Adventures, LLC to a tour of Underground Kansas yesterday! We went to Strataca (KS Underground Salt Museum), The Historic Wolf Hotel & The Ellinwood Underground, and the Atlas Ad Astra - Missile Silo!
We also had a DELICIOUS lunch at the new 10-39 Cafe in Ellinwood and grabbed some fantastic meat sticks at Ellinwood Packing Plant, Inc. for an afternoon snack!
It was a great day!!

Happy Kansas Day!!

We debated weighing in on the KS license plate controversy, but this plate is too good not to share! As you all know, we love Kansas! And THIS license plate shows that we are an amazing state. Incredible artwork. Even if it’s made like a special license plate, I’d buy that!!

Over 600k engagements over the past 48 hours! Appreciative of all of the support from my fellow Kansans!!

So I was a little late to the party.

Wasn't able to get it finished in the short timeframe for submitting but I thought I would share it anyway. I wanted to include just a few of the things that make Kansas great. The rolling flint hills, the state flower, the capital statue, the plains(and wheat) of course, the Monument Rocks in Lewis and of course the great American Bison.

Sorry I got behind on my posting! Just got back from Atchison! Final stops in Atchison were the Evah C. Cray Historical Home Museum, the Amelia Earhart Birthplace Museum, and the earthwork of Amelia.
It was an incredible day! Great people, great food, great history, great fun!!

After lunch we checked out the AMAZING new Amelia Earhart Hangar Museum!! Absolutely incredible. Our explorers said that it is great for kids but more importantly, great for bringing out the kids in us! Extremely well done!!
