Just some thoughts on using a travel agent for your Disney World needs. :)
1. If you are thinking of going to Disney World, please consider using someone who specializes in Disney-if they’re local, all the better! The help that most agents will give you is invaluable, and it doesn’t cost you ANYTHING, but it does help a small business. So many people think they have to pay to use an agent, and I get it because I used to think the same thing. To some people, FREE HELP sounds too good to be true, but in this case, it’s not. :)
2. Even if you are an expert at Disney, as some of my very best clients are, why not go ahead and book with the agent and help out a small business? You may still need their help or advice, and even if not, you can still do as much of the planning and preparation as you like. The only difference is this; a tiny portion of the money you spend on your vacation will go to the agent instead of to one of the richest companies in the world. I do love Mickey, but he doesn’t mind sharing a little bit with me. ;)
3. While I do get paid a small amount for booking Disney trips, that is not the main reason I do it. If broken down to hourly pay, it would not work out well in most cases. I do it because, crazy or not, I love talking about and helping people plan magical vacations. Finding a Be Our Guest reservation, getting their Toy Story or Frozen fastpass, sending them a text to remember to watch Celebrate the Magic before they go home, getting pics/texts all day from moms of happy princesses...those things make me happier than they should and after four years, I still love it just as much.
4. If you do use a Disney agent, tell others about their service! Give them a shout out on Facebook, tag them in your posts, tell your friends who ask for Disney advice. That happens to me all of the time (just a few minutes ago in fact), and I can’t say how much I appreciate it. 100% of my business (and probably that of most agents) comes from worth of mouth, and I wouldn’t still be doing this without that awesome advertisement from my clients, many of whom were already friends, and some who have become friends through working on their trips.
5. If Disney World is on your bucket list, please don’t just assume it’s out of your price range. So many people think a trip is $10,000, and that’s definitely not the case. There are resorts and meal plans to fits lots of different budgets. I’m not saying it isn’t expensive, but there are so many different options that it just might be doable-if not now then a couple of years down the road and something to start saving for. It never hurts to look into it if it’s something you really want to do. That’s what I told my husband in 2007, and look at him now. ;)
6. And last, if you ask me if your little one is too young to appreciate it, I'm just going to leave this picture right here. Maybe my youngest doesn't remember that very first trip, but I do, and I have these pictures to show her how much she loved it.
