A costly lesson for a client this week. (Shared with her permission as she is awesome to work with)
She declined optional travel insurance because she said she didn't need cancellation. I explained it is so much more than cancellation it's also medical. She still declined. This week she is in destination in Mexico with her husband. She had to spend 1 night in the hospital as she tripped going up the stairs and broke her kneecap! Also has a lot of neck and back pain. She is 32 years old and generally healthy. $18k later... she would have only paid $226 for insurance.
She is doing well and has good pain management. She said the care has been excellent. Has good spirits and swears she will never travel without travel insurance again. We are going to get her an annual policy.

You’re probably going to read about yet another plane crash…this time, in Alaska.

As someone in the travel industry, in many air crew chats, who’s been traveling the world since I was a kid…allow me to put it very bluntly:

💯 It's Alaska. Small plane crashes happen up there, the same way cars crash in the continental US. Teens get pilot licenses before they get driver’s licenses because of the terrain.

📛 Unless a lot of people are killed, or someone famous is involved, it rarely gets reported. The ONLY reason it is making your local news is because of the mid-air collision at Reagan and the Lear crash in Philadelphia.

⛔️There’s nothing going on. If you look at the NTSB statistics, there were always a lot of small aircraft crashes across the world every month. The report for the month of Jan 2024 shows 92 aircraft accidents, 30 were fatal or serious injuries.

📵 People are just posting them more often because of the volatile political climate and social media availability.

✈️ Do not change your travel plans. Don’t cancel your flights.

🆘 You are about 4,000 times more likely to die in a car than in a plane (1 in 101 for car, versus 1 in 11 Million for plane).

Can't get to the beach this winter? Bring the beach vibe to yourself! Let’s whip up a delightful Snowy Pineapple Punch! 🍍🥥 (rum optional)

Ingredients:
- 1 can (15 oz) pineapple chunks in juice
- 1 cup coconut cream
- 2 cups ginger ale
- 1 cup ice
- 1/2 cup shredded coconut (optional)
- Pineapple slices for garnish

Optional: your favorite coconut rum!!!

Directions:
1. 🍹 In a blender, combine the pineapple chunks and juice with the coconut cream until smooth.
2. In a large pitcher, mix the blended pineapple mixture with the ginger ale.
3. ❄️ In pitcher, add ice and stir gently to combine.
4. 🌴 Wet rim of glass and rub in fine coconut flakes. Top with shredded coconut and a slice of pineapple for a festive touch!

Tip: If you’re looking to cater to dietary needs, you can use light coconut cream and sugar-free ginger ale!

Add a few inflatable beach balls in the living room and a good beach movie on the TV!

Serves: 4 🍹✨
