Mr. Joe is a quiet; what many call a 'simple' man. But in all his 'simplicity' he's been called upon to take care of so many others......AND their families over the years. But he's never been "loud" or flashy about it. It's just not his style.

So, in honor of the way he's chosen to live his life, in quiet fashion his immediate family gathered today to celebrate him and his 85th bEARTHday!!

Happy Birthday Daddy --- you've always been head and shoulders above the rest AND one of the absolute best! Thank you for giving so much to so many. We see you & love you dearly!! ❤️

😳 Let me tell ya'll something about this past weekend!!! Mercury in retrograde was doing the most!! Delayed flights everywhere, hotel power going out from 10a until almost 1a (meaning the NEXT morning), cold and rain, a tornado in Sausalito, CA AND disappearing food 😧 BUT when I tell you this crew rolled with ALL the punches and made it look fabulous!!!! And PHHHHUUUUUNNNNN‼️

Can't offer enough Congratulations and Thank-you's to and .martin.bass for giving a wonderful performance and always showing up in excellence! 🌟 That party got poppin' the minute ya'll hit the stage!! 💃🕺

And a very special Thank you to our super gracious Host who called way back in March and told me in no uncertain terms that he HAD TO have Sy Boogie at his Holiday party this year.

Lastly a special love offering goes to the Head Lady in charge at & her entire team for doing all the things throughout the months that made our weekend in the Winter Redwoods Wonderland absolutely magical!!! 🙏🏽

I have zero biological children but over the years I've collected a wonderful array of musical babies. This one showed up with many questions, a resolute but gentle spirit, a thoughtful agenda driven by pure purpose and a quiet determination!

To say that I'm proud of Ms. Candace is one of the biggest understatements in my adult life!!! Diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic leukemia when she was 8 years old and finished treatment at 12, she's been cancer free now 10 years.

She gets to experience another of life's treasures next weekend when she becomes a proud Alumni of Prairie View A&M University. I had to break it to her that I wouldn't be able to attend her graduation ceremony or celebration because I'm obligated to other Music Lady related duties that weekend, but social media family/musical village, please help me celebrate her and her accomplishments.

As I told her......."your future is awaiting your arrival. Let that be your motivation to ALWAYS show up for yourself!" 🙏🏽

Congratulations Ms. 🎉🎓🎙

P.S. And she's got that Music Lady Serious Sounds stare-glare so ya'll watch out. She's got next and she's serious 'bout this life! 😉

Serious Sounds, Etc. Record Store is an independently owned record store located on Martin Luther King Blvd. at the 610 Frwy that caters to the African-American consumer. Established in 1991 they are still viable 26 years later selling music to the Southeast Houston, South Park & 3rd Ward record buying community. In addition to being a brick & mortar record store they regularly organize and produce quality music-related events for the enjoyment of the general public.
