FAQ about Passports

1.) I am a convicted felon. Can I get a passport?

You can obtain a passport unless 1.) you've been convicted of international drug trafficking, 2.) are incarcerated, 3.) you're on parole/probation, or 4.) you're a fugitive.

2.) If I owe child support, would that impact my chances of getting a passport?

If you have unpaid child support that exceeds $2,500, you can not obtain a passport.

3.) I want to take my cousin whom is 15 years old on a birthday cruise. Can a 15 year old get a passport?8

A minor under 16 years of age must get the consent of both of their parents/legal guardian or their passport application will be denied. In order to get a passport under the age of 16, one must apply in person with a valid form of I.D. with a parent or guardian. If both parents cannot be present, the parent who accompanies the minor must present evidence of sole custody or provide notarized written consent from the second parent. The third option is to have a third party stand in with a notarized written statement from both parents.
