No Africa trip is complete without a sighting of a Secretarybird, at least in my book. We saw so many in the Serengeti and the Mara this last May, likely around 30 or so. Not many of them were willing subject (always walking away), but I did capture one or two. And several other birds in the process. Here are a few.

Kathy and I spent the last few days in a couple of private conservancies to the north of the Masai Mara National Park, at Saruni Leopard Hill, Hemingway's Ol Seki, Saruni Mara and now Kicheche Mara Camp. One thing they all have in common: being able to drive off-road, often a crucial element for successful wildlife photography. Several of my photos taken here would have been near impossible to get from a long distance.

Made it to Entara's Olmara tented camp on the eastern side of the central Serengeti. An adventurous drive along a muddy, rough track to get here, but expertly managed by our guide Said Kotoku. Here are a few more pics taken in the area over the last couple of days.
