Amazing Place's Dementia Day Program is led by a highly professional and compassionate staff that quickly recognizes the individual needs and abilities of our participants. The center is open Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. Both participants and caregivers have the option to select a schedule that best suits their needs. Located in the heart of Houston, the center provides a joyful envi

ronment of acceptance allowing all family members peace of mind. Amazing Place offers a variety of activities that build cognitive skills that can offset the effects of Alzheimer's disease and other related dementias. Our safe and welcoming environment encourages friendships, social activities, exercise and education. All staff and volunteers passionately promote self-efficacy. Our chef prepares a delicious and well thought out three-course lunch each day strictly following the guidelines of MPN (Memory Preservation Nutrition). Special events, like birthdays, are celebrated as a group and festive parties are planned for the holidays. Virtual classes and other online programming are available for those that cannot attend in person or prefer a hybrid solution customized to their unique needs. At Amazing Place, the Connections Program is devoted to supporting the well-being of our caretakers and community at large by offering a variety of classes and in-person services. Our mission is to empower lives disrupted by dementia. Amazing Place is a state-licensed, faith based non-profit organization governed by a board of directors with representatives from 16 Houston area churches.

Amazing Place will also be closed Jan. 21 and Jan. 22 due to the anticipated winter storm.

Introducing our 2024 dove ornament! 🕊️🎄One of the most beloved holiday traditions at Amazing Place, we have been gifting dove ornaments to participants and staff since it became a symbol for our organization in 2011. A spiritual symbol, the dove signifies that Amazing Place is a safe place to land, a place of hope for families struggling with the challenges of dementia.

We marked the end of our ACPC2 grant with a celebration recognizing the time and commitment of volunteers, staff, data collectors and advisors! This grant helped us reach new audiences struggling with dementia, including Houston’s Spanish-speaking population! It also allowed us to pilot new ways of supporting our faith community and training volunteers to provide an in home dementia caregiver program!

After touring the construction site of Amazing Place West campus (scheduled to open in Spring 2025), we got to hear from Jen Marr, speaker, 3x Author, and Founder and CEO of Showing Up LLC who inspired us about showing up and offering comfort. She also reminded us to always Hang On To What Is Good (HOTWIG)!
