UVA is intriguing. Beyond the academics, students enjoyed learning about the secret societies and the privilege of living on the lawn in one of the bedrooms designed by Thomas Jefferson. We also were able to meet with current UVA students who shared about Greek life, student ministries, and job opportunities on campus.

We are wrapping up our visit to Washington and Lee. It was beautiful with snow blanketing the historic campus and the iconic colonnade. We were able to meet with current students and hear directly from them the reasons they chose and love this school. A professor shared with us the value he sees in the liberal arts education. W&L leaves a lasting impression.

Our Fall SEC Tour is off to a great start! We arrived at Ole Miss just as the sun was setting on The Grove…so calm and peaceful before trash cans, tents, and an abundance of activity begins in The Grove tomorrow! It’s Parents Weekend and everyone is prepping!

Today was Election Day for Homecoming Queen, Mr. Ole Miss and Miss Ole Miss. We caught the tail end of the campaigning on the concourse and winners were announced at The Lyceum tonight.

We had dinner with current students and heard first hand why they believe Ole Miss is a perfect fit. After dinner those same students hosted us at their sorority and fraternity houses.

We ended the evening wandering around The Square. Ole Miss is warm and welcoming and we have much more to experience tomorrow.

Colleges offer so many great summer programs for young students— STEM programs, sports camps, theatre camps, engineering workshops, etc. They are a great opportunity to acquire new skills AND learn a bit about a particular school. This week my youngest son did a youth football camp at Auburn. He met coaches, learned traditions, wandered the campus, and played a lot of 7-on-7 football. It was a blast!
