What's happening here???! You'll now be able to enjoy the peacefulness of a solar powered stay with us in the deep north woods, in our Guest Suite AND have access to high speed internet! What??? That's right!

For those interested in technology details - We've been entirely off grid for nearly 12 years. Last year, our local electric company received a federal grant to provide broadband access to all reaches of the county. We're one of those far reaches! So, with the broadband must come electric. What's great for us is that we can still use our entire solar energy system minus the propane generators. When there is no sun or when the solar panels are covered with snow, the propane generators automatically kick in to top off our 24 batteries to power the house until the sun returns. Ever since the electric was brought to the house late last year, we've been able to now use the electricity to top those batteries for a short period of time, saving us loads of money in propane costs. And TODAY, the broadband is being installed. So! If you want all the appearances of an off grid stay but need high speed internet while you're here, we've got you covered!
