It’s the end of the season! After rescuing the van from the van-pires on Halloween, it’s time for our Remote Access Shuttle to curl up in its den and hibernate during winter. It has been an amazing first season for us, full of incredible sights, rocky roads, and great conversations with our exceptional hiker guests about everything nature and beyond (100% of guests were cool and friendly, how is that statistically possible?). We can’t wait for next year, and if you’re as excited as we are, we hope to be able to see you out there and support you on your Remote Access Adventure! Five minutes after picking up a couple of our hikers from Gunflint Lodge, look at what we saw! Moose Madness indeed! The guests were laughing because they had just spent some time in the Boundary Waters and hadn’t seen a single moose. Five minutes with us, and moose magic! It was a fantastic moment and we’ve been very fortunate this season with wildlife viewing from the Remote Access Shuttle Van. Let us be part of your Northwoods safari! www.SuperiorByNature.com

These hikers made a last minute decision to hike the Superior Hiking Trail after their plans for hiking the Pacific Crest Trail and Appalachian Trail were both squashed by weather conditions. On our Pick Me Up today the waves on Superior were really coming in BIG. Surfers were getting ready to go out or just coming in. The gray skies and cooler weather were a welcome change, it really feels like proper autumn now. This hiker has experienced the Border Route Trail scenery from the water before, but he’s looking forward to his first time hiking the trail. He’s testing out new gear too! It just kept getting better and better. So sleepy so I had to call it a night at 12:30. This AND a HUGE cow moose, the size of a descent size bull. Of course no good photo in the dark. But looooook at those lights!

Hey! Points Unknown is our "sister company" and is our base camp for our Remote Access Shuttle. If hiking in the area on the 19th, stop by and see us and the dogs! We're 7 miles up the Arrowhead Trail and 8.9 miles from the Northern Terminus of the Superior Hiking Trail and the Eastern Terminus of the Border Route Trail.
