We're starting to gear up for our SECOND year in business!! Last year was a whirlwind as we put together the business for a July 1st start. We had a PHENOMENAL season thanks to YOU! We'll be making some changes and additions to our service and would love to hear from you!

Today we remember President Carter, an environmentalist who cared deeply about his country’s natural spaces — even if it cost him politically. This will no doubt be one of his lasting legacies. He set the tone, and in the 1970s, Friends of the Boundary Waters worked with his administration to shape and pass the Boundary Waters Wilderness Act. By signing this bill, President Carter put in place the protections that made the Boundary Waters what it is today. This was not an easy thing to do. For many in his own party, this was not a popular bill. Timber and extractive industries exerted a huge amount of influence, but in the end, Carter championed a bill that has had a profound impact on the lives of hundreds of thousands of people who love wild places and who have been touched by the splendor of the Boundary Waters.

It’s the end of the season! After rescuing the van from the van-pires on Halloween, it’s time for our Remote Access Shuttle to curl up in its den and hibernate during winter. It has been an amazing first season for us, full of incredible sights, rocky roads, and great conversations with our exceptional hiker guests about everything nature and beyond (100% of guests were cool and friendly, how is that statistically possible?). We can’t wait for next year, and if you’re as excited as we are, we hope to be able to see you out there and support you on your Remote Access Adventure! Five minutes after picking up a couple of our hikers from Gunflint Lodge, look at what we saw! Moose Madness indeed! The guests were laughing because they had just spent some time in the Boundary Waters and hadn’t seen a single moose. Five minutes with us, and moose magic! It was a fantastic moment and we’ve been very fortunate this season with wildlife viewing from the Remote Access Shuttle Van. Let us be part of your Northwoods safari! www.SuperiorByNature.com

These hikers made a last minute decision to hike the Superior Hiking Trail after their plans for hiking the Pacific Crest Trail and Appalachian Trail were both squashed by weather conditions.
