Day 5 of our Longest Adventure finds us between Ogalla NE to Laramie Wy. Here are photos of the sites we saw along this stretch of I80. We will be starting in Laramie for the next 2 days before pushing on. We hope to see several sites tomorrow as well as get the water line fixed before traveling on. For those of you worrying about us , don’t worry, the water line is a super simple fix when I find the connection but until that time we just fill a water pitcher at night to flush the toilet with. All that he campgrounds we stay at have showers and restrooms (so Lynda ain’t suffering lol).

Day 3 on our GREAT ADVENTURE. We are in Oglala Nebraska. We toured the Old Town and had a great lunch then on to the Mansion on The Hill tour. We then decided to visit the largest lake in Nebraska. After a big days travel we once again visited the KOA swimming pool. If took Lynda about an hour to get wet to her shoulders cause the pool was very cool. Me I’m not real smart so I just dove in and lessened the shock. We are pulling out early tomorrow to drive to Laramie Wy. So far it’s been a good trip minus the water leak but we are still getting it done ( the Okie fix did not work) but hopefully Laramie will have parts to fix it.

Almost forgot the most important photo of the day. Once again look at the time and temperature. We got to wear sweaters today (whoop whoop) and we had a lot of rain. Lynda is in her happy temperature range now.

Ok here’s what we did on our trip from Grand Island to Oglala today. We stopped at The Arch Museum in Kearney Nebraska and boy was it a great place to visit. This museum documents the history of the opening of the west. It started as most stories go with the history of the Natives and continued on to present day. There were stories about the pioneer’s struggles, the Native struggle against the pioneers, the gold rush to California and the rest of the west coast, as well as the Mormon trail. Then it went into the railroad story and how the iron horse truly opened up the west. It continued with the story of the Lincoln Hwy and how the President proclaimed and had built the I80 interstate that runs from Chicago to San Francisco. Such a fascinating place. They give you a point and shoot necklace that acts as your own personal tour guide thru the museum.
The museum spans all four lanes of traffic on I80 and it also has a radar gun located in the overlooking window (insider tip).

We finally ended up in Oglala and set up the RV. We have a water leak we discovered while pacing up this morning. I located the leak and I think (hopefully the right parts to repair it) had to do some Okie adjustments so we will see. We are here for the next 2 days so I will try and get some photos of Oglala tomorrow.

Ok day 2 on the road again (sumbody should sing about now). We went from Wellington Kansas to Grand Island Nebraska today so we are currently about 600 miles into our trip. I posted my usual temperature update so all our Okie friends could be inspired ( notice the time of the temp). Today I got to show my wife another full day of corn fields with some soybean fields mixed in the scenery. I’m always amazed when we come this way of how many streams and rivers Kansas has running thru it. Once again here in Grand Island the temps are great for relaxing but to cold by my standards for swimming. If my grands were here they would probably already be wet but for older guys like me it’s just to cold to swim. Our RV park is beautiful as usual and completely surrounded by corn with the exception of the roadway. I made my usual walk around that I do in every RV park we stay at and as usual I stopped and made new friends. Todays group was from Montana headed to Texas. I told them it was hot there but they said they have always wanted to go so to each their own lol. They said when they left home a few days ago that Bozeman was in a heat wave. It had gotten up to 79 degrees so they think they are prepared for the heat (this is where us southerners say Bless Their Heart). Today we finished up going north and just started our western trail. Tomorrow’s travel takes us from Grand Island to Oglala where we will stay two nights getting ready for the mountains on I80. So till tomorrow evening May God bless and keep you.

Ok I will apologize right from the start for this post. I know that everyone who’s following this page wants to see all the scenery that we saw during the day… well this ain’t one of them. We pulled into the Wellington KOA this afternoon about 1:30 and it was HOT up here. We quickly set up and got under the AC’s. We discussed our options of whether to go into town and eat supper or to fix some delicious ham and cheese sandwiches and then hit the swimming pool. Guess what won out. As you can tell from the photo my wife is in for the evening after our swim. Rest assured if we had seen anything other than cows and corn getting here we would have stopped and taken a shot. But unfortunately if you have ever traveled this way you will know what I mean. Maybe tomorrows travel will bring more to see. We leave Wellington Kansas and head to Grand Island Nebraska.

Well our big day is finally here. We are pulling out of Oklahoma with our 5th wheel in tow (along with almost everything in our house). We will be making the first stage of our trip by getting to Wellington Kansas today. It’s said that every adventure begins with a single step so here goes. I will try and take some pictures along the way each day and hopefully post each evening as we camp. Praising God every day for this and many many more blessings he has given us.

Ok I will try this again because it looks like I didn’t do it right the first time. Lynda and I are creating this page so you our friends can keep up with our travels and adventures. As many of you know I retired from The Choctaw Nation on June 30th. Also if we have visited lately you know we have a once in a lifetime trip planned for Alaska (bucket list item FOREVER). We plan to post photos and a brief narration of what and where we did and are each day of our trip. This page is created for your enjoyment and NOT AS A BRAGGING PAGE TO US. For many many months now we have expressed our gratitude to God for allowing us this opportunity. We also have had a heavy heart thinking of so many friends and loved ones who never got this chance due to one thing or another. So we look at this adventure as a way of expressing our appreciation to God and a reminder of how fortunate we are.

If you choose to follow along with us we welcome you. So just click on whatever your supposed to click on and we will get started soon.

We will be leaving out on July the 12th provided I can get all of Lynda’s stuff packed in the RV. Hopefully we will be able to assist you in gaining an appreciation for this great country called USA as well as a deep appreciation for the freedoms we enjoy here.
But we mostly hope that you will give PRAISE TO GOD for this beautiful gife of life he has given to each of us.

Ok here goes, this will be our very first post on this newly created page. Lynda & I have started this page so you our friends can keep up with our adventures and travel. Probably by now, if you have seen us lately you already know that I officially retired from The Choctaw Nation as of Friday the 30th of June. You also probably already know that we have been planning our Lifetime trip to Alaska (something we have had on our bucket list FOREVER). Well the time is almost here. We are busy packing our bags and our camper and we will be pulling out on July the 12th. If you choose to follow our adventures we are planning to post photos and a brief narration of our daily travels.
I want to express right from the start of this page that this is NOT A BRAGGING PAGE. This is not meant to say look at us and what we get to do. While Lynda and I feel extremely blessed to get this opportunity we also have a heavy heart remembering all our friends and loved ones who never did. We hope that by following us you will gain an appreciation of the beautiful world God created for us to enjoy and how very blessed we are to live in America. So to follow our travels just click wherever your supposed to click and sit back and enjoy our travel with us. Bless each of you and to God be the glory.
