It's a GREAT morning in Hurley, WI where we have received close to a foot of new snow in the last 24 hours. Snow totals are less as you get out of the greater Hurley area, and especially going North toward the Lake where we are seeing 4-5" there. What started out as very fluffy precipitation, turned into great base-building heavy snow 😊 Please use caution as our groomers will be out all day and night, processing this latest offering of white gold. Trail conditions will be great this weekend, and it is our intent to have any wet area trails, previously listed as closed, (13b, 13s, 15a, 15n) fully open on Saturday afternoon. With this new snow, we now have what we need to plow through the marshes and fill the wet spots properly.
So, make your reservations, and pack your gear because you won't want to miss out on these conditions! ❄️❄️❄️

The Iron County snowmobile trail system will open for the season on Thursday January 16th at 7:00 a.m. . Riders can expect very early season conditions with many rough areas and thin spots. We definitely can use more snow but we were able to get a solid base earlier in the year. Please watch for trail condition updates from the clubs as they continue to work with what we have.

Good morning this 9th day of January, 2025. We wake to a balmy 8 degrees and still no new snowfall. The weather models talking about snow Friday support a couple inches of fluffy lake effect once again. Yeah, that's the stuff we use our leaf blowers and brooms for, not shovels. But, it does keep things white and looking like Winter! So, get your wheeled cruisers out, pack up the kids, the dogs, and your significant other, and enjoy the Northern Iron County countryside. Find your ways via the Summer ATV/UTV map to all of our great commercial members offering services throughout Iron County and the Western U.P.

We have still been busy without any new snow to process, by adding new signs to many of our private land sections. We're hoping to both thank all the landowners, and remind all trail users to responsibly stay on the trails. Thank you for helping us achieve this goal 😊

Keep thinking SNOW, and LOTS OF IT!! A few inches just isn't going to make these trails safe for snowmobiles. We need some good wet snow to bond to the ice right now, and finish filing the voids. 🤞

Effective immediately, the ATV/UTV trails north of the intersection of 17/17a are open. All ATV/UTV routes throughout the County are open. Riders must follow the ATV/UTV map. All trails throughout the County that are winter only trails remain closed. The ATV/UTV trails in the Mercer area remain closed due to unsafe conditions with ice and very little snow cover. All Iron County Snowmobile Trails remain closed due to lack of snow.

Trail 11A between Hogsback Road (Trail 13) and West Branch Road (Trail 15)will be closed for the winter to allow for logging operations. Use Trail 15 or Trail 13 and Island Lake Road to reach the Island Lake area. This closure is expected to be for this winter only. Think snow!!
