If hiking the Narrows (photo 1) at Zion National Park is on your radar screen this week, you may want to have a plan B. Currently they are closed due to high water.

Whenever the Virgin River is at 150 cfs (cubic feet per second) the Narrows close. Visit the official park website for updates.

A nice alternative for a slot canyon hike is Kanarra Creek Falls (photo 2) 30 minutes north of St. George. This hike requires a permit that can be obtained at www.kanarrafalls.com

With warm, blue waters and breathtaking scenery, Sand Hollow Reservoir is an exquisite setting for your group to enjoy favorite water sports. Our friends at The Beach at Sand Hollow offer a wide variety of water vehicles and personal watercrafts—as well as all necessary equipment—including boat, paddle board, and canoe rentals. (They even have a 6-person paddle board available—convenient for your family reunion or large party!) They’ll take care of all your needs, so you can relax and enjoy the ride! (When you rent from us, you receive a 20% discount at The Beach at Sand Hollow.

All of our homes are conveniently located near Sand Hollow State Park where the adventurous visitor can enjoy boating, kayaking, paddle boarding, cliff jumping and even scuba diving! Off the lake, the Sand Hollow sand dunes host off-roading of all kinds, and the nearby world-famous mountain bike trails cater to bikers of all skill levels. The golf enthusiast will enjoy a round at Sand Hollow Resort’s 18 hole course – the #1 Public Golf Course (voted by Golfweek Magazine), and then relax at the Club House and resort pool which are onsite.
