A Guest House with Unique Vintage Decor
A guest house with unique decor created almost entirely of upcycled and recycled materials Welcome to DaddyRoy’s Bed & Vintage, our small family-run guest house. The home was built in the 1950’s by the daughter of Roy M. Lyga, the long-time proprietor of Lyga’s Store which operated on Main (officially Washington Street) in Independence, WI. In 1908 Roy began his mercantile career as a clerk in his father’s store. With silver hair but gold in his heart, his grand-children called him “Daddy Roy”. DaddyRoy’s is located at the entryway to Independence on Highway 93 / 121, a few minutes away from the beautifully restored St. Peter & Paul Church.
The main floor of the house offers two bedrooms for rent. The basement has a separate apartment “The Nest” with own entrance. The units can be rented together or individually. With an overall vintage vibe as a common theme in our décor, you’ll find something charming in every room.
THE MAIN FLOOR. Our favorite room is the bright and cheery breezeway, with orange doors and 70’s floral print. In the summer it serves as an informal guest sitting room and opens to both front and back patio areas. The spacious living room and dining room are combined as one great room. This area has several windows and is a light drenched space perfect for those seeking peace and tranquility at home; to read, watch movies, or watch the world go by. The new state of the art flat screen TV comes with access to Amazon Prime and Apple TV (including multiple movies).
The dining table expands to seat six. The kitchen includes a banquette seating area for five framed by a large picture window. A washer and dryer are on the main floor. Wireless internet is available throughout the house. The entrance area hosts an outdoor patio table and four cushioned chairs set under an awning for perfect shade when dining or entertaining guests in warm weather. The back yard has a swing, hammock, table & chairs, and accessories. These are made available to longer term renters upon request. Our Rooms We have two lovely guest rooms available at this time; a queen room (The Paris room) or a double room (The London room). Alternatively, you can rent both as a “suite”. Both bedrooms are on the main floor. The bathroom has a tub/shower combination with grab bars near the shower and toilet for the convenience of the elderly or those requiring assistance using the facilities. Our Pricing: • Paris room (queen bed – traditional mattress) - $75 per room per night, excluding breakfast. • London room (double bed – gel mattress) - $85 per room per night, excluding breakfast. • Paris and London rooms together (sharing bathroom) - $120 per night, excluding breakfast.
