In the summer, you can lull yourself to sleep listening to the river right outside the cabin. The river, and many of the ponds, lakes, and streams nearby are stocked by the N.Y. State Fisheries Department. Hiking trails are numerous, including nearby Wakely Mt. Firetower (moderate) and many more difficult climbs as well. Two golf courses are within eight miles. The NY Times acclaimed Adirondack Mu
seum is 20 minutes away. The Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts located on main street in Blue Mountain Lake, is a multi-arts center open year round. It is funded partly by The New York Council on the Arts and it's annual schedule has something for every age or interest. Indian Lake is listed as "The Whitewater Capital of New York"! There is also powerboat and canoe rentals available at the Indian Lake Marina. For a more relaxed experience, you can dine aboard the W.W. Durant and cruise Raquette Lake. You can also visit Golden Beach, a state run campsite for a day of swimming (picnic tables and fireplaces provided). Indian Lake has a free town beach. Within an hour's drive located in Old Forge is the Enchanted Forests Water Safari and Adirondack Scenic Railroad. In North Creek, visit the Upper Hudson River Railroad, Barton Mine's Garnet Mine Tour, or ride the Gondola at Gore Mt. for spectacular views of the High Peaks. The outlet store's located in Lake George, Great Escape Theme Park and Waterslide World, Saratoga Race Track, and Saratoga Performing Arts Center, all just a short trip away. In the winter, you can snowmobile right from the camp, just a 10th of a mile on Cedar River Rd., and you're on groomed trails leading to both "Moose River Plains", and Indian Lake Trail System which links with the county's 750 mile network. After you return to the camp, park your machines under cover inside the drive in, drive out, Sled Shed. Ski Center is only 35 minutes away or take the kids to the tubing hill. Indian Lake has a free ski hill, sliding hill, and skating rink. Cross country skiing is available at Garnet Hill Lodge as well as many trails nearby. For hunting enthusiasts, we are located four miles from the Moose River Recreation area which is well known for ifs superb hunting. State land is only minutes away. Please check on current activities and events on the indian-lake.com website. The cabin has two bedrooms plus a small loft for 2 small children, also a sleeper couch, in the "River room". Full kitchen. Bathroom with shower (no tub). The main room/ dining rm, seats six comfortably where you can watch the embers burn in the gas woodstove. Relax in the River Room and listen to the water flowing by, or turn on the stereo, TV(no standard reception), but VCR and CD player. Stereo is wired to outside speakers for music while sitting around the fire pit cooking smores/ and enjoying your favorite beverage. Cook out at the gas grill, and eat out at the picnic table. Lawn chairs also provided.
