After 12.5 hour delay and a missed connection we are finally stateside! Not officially home but we’re stateside!

Our #1 Travel Rule: Always Pack Your Patience

Travel comes with its fair share of surprises, and today we’re getting a firsthand reminder of that! A 10-hour delay means we’re missing our connecting flight home 🙃.

To make things even more exciting, these flights aren’t scheduled until tomorrow and will push us into Monday. So, we’re keeping our fingers crossed for no more delays—but if they come, we’ll keep pivoting!

Traveling is an adventure, and sometimes that means rolling with the unexpected. Weather, mechanical issues, and schedules can shift, but with a little patience, we can handle it all.

Yesterday, we touched down in Sydney, our final stop on this incredible journey! After freshening up at the hotel, we set off on an unforgettable Sydney Harbour sunset cruise.The views were absolutely breathtaking! Sailing around the iconic Opera House on a catamaran and passing under the Sydney Harbour Bridge made for a magical hour on the water.

Today, we dived into Sydney's vibrant city life! We strolled through Hyde Park, explored the Australian Museum, admired the lush Royal Botanic Gardens, and returned to the magnificent Sydney Opera House for another look.

Our adventure continued in the historic Rocks neighborhood, where we stopped at a local pub and tried kangaroo pizza 🦘🍕—a surprising hit! From there, we wandered through a bustling mall in the city center, indulging in a delicious berry cheesecake from a Japanese bake shop.

Sydney is such a dynamic city—full of energy, history, and charm. It’s been an absolute joy to explore!

When we booked this trip, all we wanted was to see and touch the beach—but Cairns exceeded every expectation! The combination of stunning beaches and breathtaking mountainous views makes it an absolute paradise.

🌿 Rainforest Adventures: Yesterday was unforgettable! We explored the rainforest in the most incredible way:
- Took a cable car ride over the tree canopy, amazed at centuries-old trees.
- Enjoyed a guided walk with a park ranger who shared fascinating insights about the rainforest's landscape.
- Ended with an army duck tour through the rainforest—the highlight of the day!

Fun fact: The internet has totally exaggerated Australia’s “dangerous animal” reputation! 🐊🐍 Spiders, snakes, and crocs aren’t the main threats here. In reality, the top causes of harm are…
- Horses 🐎
- Cows 🐄
- Dogs/Dingos 🐕
- Kangaroos 🦘
- Bees 🐝

We also learned the vital role that the Cassowary plays in the rain forest ecosystem. These birds help by eating fruits and spreading seeds through their droppings to help regenerate vegetation.

🏝️ Fitzroy Island: Today, we ventured to Fitzroy Island, and even though it rained most of the day, the coral-covered beaches and a hike through the lush island were worth every moment.

Tomorrow, we say goodbye to Cairns and head to the final stop on this incredible journey. Stay tuned for more adventures! 🌏

🛥️ After an almost two-hour boat ride, we arrived at one of the most breathtaking natural wonders, The Great Barrier Reef, the largest living structure in the world, spanning over 133,000 square miles(about the size of Japan!) and an incredible 20 million years old! 🪸

Snorkeling through the coral and swimming alongside countless marine species was beyond anything I imagined. We even explored the reef on a semi-submarine, getting an up-close look at the coral while a marine biologist explained the underwater world around us! 🐠🐟🐢

If you're ever in this part of the world, visiting the reef is an absolute must!

What was supposed to be our “slow day” in Brisbane turned into a whirlwind of exploration and surprises! After picking up our rental car (and nervously driving on the opposite side of the road), we stumbled upon something we hadn’t seen in ages—Kmart! Of course, we had to stop in for a little nostalgia before heading to a local grocery store to grab some essentials.

Our day continued with a stroll through a local artisan market and a surprise run-in with Santa! From there, we made our way to the Brisbane River Walk, where we hopped on a ferry for a scenic ride along the river. The views were stunning, and it gave us a whole new perspective of the city.

After that, we found ourselves in the heart of a festive city celebration—complete with the Mayor lighting Brisbane’s Christmas tree! The evening wasn’t over yet; we wandered into The Enchanted Forest and were mesmerized by the magical light display. What started as a laid-back day ended with us returning to the hotel well after 10 PM—definitely not as "slow" as planned!

Brisbane is known as the River City because the Brisbane River snakes through its heart, shaping the city’s layout. Interestingly, the river actually flows both ways depending on the tide!

Today, we visited the legendary Australia Zoo. Walking through the zoo felt like stepping into Steve Irwin’s world, reliving the memories so many of us cherished from his TV shows. It was an unforgettable experience!

Brisbane has been an absolute blast, but tomorrow we’re off to a new city for even more adventures. Stay tuned!

We had an incredible day exploring Rotorua, a city full of culture, history, and natural wonders! Our day started bright and early at 6 AM with a scenic 3-hour drive south of Auckland. Along the way, we stopped in a little town for a bathroom break and a quick breakfast before continuing on to the living Māori village of Whakarewarewa.

At Whakarewarewa, we got an up-close look at how the Māori people live in harmony with the earth. The village is built around natural hot springs, which are used for everything from cooking to communal bathing. One of the highlights was watching them cook corn right in the hot springs and being able to sample some! As someone who doesn’t normally reach for corn, I was surprised by how delicious it was.

For lunch, we enjoyed a traditional hangi meal, cooked underground using geothermal heat. The flavors were so rich and authentic! We ended our time at the village with a vibrant cultural performance, featuring songs and dances that were full of passion and pride for their culture. It was impossible not to smile watching the performers bring their traditions to life.

Before heading back to Auckland, we stopped by the Polynesian Spa to unwind in the natural hot spring pools. It was the perfect way to relax and reflect on the day.

For dinner, we took our tour guide JJ’s recommendation and tried an authentic Chinese restaurant. The experience was nothing like American Chinese food—it was an exciting and delicious journey into traditional Chinese cooking, with excellent service from the owners.

Fun fact: Rotorua is known as the *Sulphur City* because of its geothermal activity, which creates a distinct sulfur smell throughout the area. It’s home to some of the world’s most active geysers and bubbling mud pools, making it a truly unique destination!

This wraps up our time in Auckland and Rotorua. Today, we’re off to explore a new city. While it’s Friday the 29th here in New Zealand, it’s still Thanksgiving back in the U.S. Happy Thanksgiving to all our friends and family! 🦃

🌏 Kia Ora from Auckland, New Zealand!🌟

Our first full day in New Zealand was a total success! After arriving at our hotel, we dropped off our bags, freshened up, and hit the ground running. Pro Tip:When traveling abroad, adjust to the local time zone by sleeping when the locals sleep. No matter how tired you are, power through the day and keep busy to beat jet lag! 💪

We spent the day exploring Auckland's vibrant Central Business District, taking in the sights, and soaking up the energy of this incredible city. The highlight? A visit to the iconic Sky Tower! We made it all the way up to the 60th floor for the most breathtaking views of Auckland's skyline. 🌆

Afterward, we strolled through some of Auckland’s beautiful parks and made our way to the bustling Port of Auckland. Sadly, no cruise ships were docked today—but that just means we'll have to come back again! 😂

Today, we’re off bright and early for our next adventure. Stay tuned!
