Early news about Indian Rocks Beach.

Good morning IRB! Daily Beach report. Where to start…I’m not on the beach but here is what it appears. IRB did not take a storm surge. The eye made landfall at another popular beach, Siesta Key. This located in the Sarasota area just to our south. There is wide spread damage in our area. Thousands are without power and we are under a stay in place order. We had tons of rain and very high winds. Rain flooding is an issue. The roof of Tropicana field was blown off and a crane fell in St. Pete. However we did not get the surge because of being on the north side of the storm. Our friends just to south in Sarasota, Ft. Myers and points south took the surge. Barrier Islands will likely be closed for a period of time so we will stay put where we are. We will send updates as we get info. Thanks!
