Here's the first Sunset of 2025 off the coast of the Indian Shores, FL area. Thank you Becky and John for letting me get you all out on the water on this beautiful evening. It was great running into a couple of pods of dolphin but that sunset was amazing! Can't wait to see you all next time you're in the area!

Happy New Year Everyone! The last sunset of 2024 was uniquely amazing. The fog that was setting in around sunset made for a memorable ending to the year. Thank you Beth and Family for reaching out to me to get you all on the water. It was nice meeting everyone. I look forward to seeing you all next time you're in the area. Welcome Y'all Vacation Rentals would love to host your stay again. Thank you so much for sharing these pictures!

The fog that rolled in on us yesterday morning was Awesome! Even though we had a limited view, we came upon dolphins so quickly. Then we got these two kiddos out on The Sandbar where we found a ginormous Lightning Whelk. They had a blast learning about some of Florida's shallow water sea life. Thank you Jason for reaching out to me to get the family on the water. Great job capturing these pictures and video too. Y'all were a blast!

I just want to give a big thank you to Rozel, David, Ethan and Maggie for joining me on an awesome boat trip this past Friday. We saw a bunch of dolphins cutting up in the water and had fun exploring on a shallow water sandbar. I added a couple of pictures of the fog from today, Monday so you all can see how thick it was this morning on my first trip. I look forward to seeing you all next time you're in the area. Happy New Year!

Check out this dolphin throwing a FLOUNDER many times before eating it. This dolphin must have thrown this flounder a dozen times. It almost looked like the dolphin was trying to skip the flounder on top of the water. You can see it from beginning to end of video. Thank you Joe for capturing this awesome video! Check it out!

Check out what the House Conch has in its mouth. I circled in RED. In one picture you see a young Lightning Whelk in the mouth and the other, a Banded Tulip. Not only do sea snails eat bivalves (clams), but they also eat other gastropods (other sea snails). Also in the one video you can see The Sea Anemones retracting when you give it a tickle. In the one picture with the clam, you can see the baby sea snails (little specs) eating some leftover clam residue as they continue to grow until they can split open their own clams. See y'all on the water!

Thank you Lindsey for letting me get you and your parents out on the water for an amazing Sandbar Trip. They are great people. Thank you so much for sharing these awesome pictures and video. I look forward to our next trip in January. See ya soon!

Thank you Becky and Luke for letting me take you out yesterday while you are here on your honeymoon! I had a great time exploring with you two. The Sandbar was very productive and I am so happy I got to teach you some cool facts about the local wildlife. Those dolphins sure gave us a show. Great job on locating some sand dollars when you all took that walk from North Clearwater Beach. When I'm in the UK, I'm definitely going to reach out to y'all! Thanks again!

What cold weather?? Yesterday morning at 9am and 48°, I had the pleasure of taking Carmelita, James and their kiddos on an educational/exploring boat tour. Since they were from Colorado, they showed up in shorts willing and ready. Me on the other hand, had five layers on LOL. We found some cool stuff like a calico crab you see in the pictures, a variety of sea snails, awesome worms like the shaggy tube worm (which make their own adhesive to get shell pieces to stick to the outer tube to protect it), lug worms (which make gray piles of sand aka lug worm p**p) and many different shells. Now they know the names of these critters and what they do and eat. The calico crab was actually found on the beach and not in the water. As long as they stay moist in the sand, they are good until the tide comes back up. We did release him in the water to save him the wait of the tide. It was so great meeting y'all! See you next time you're in the area. Thank you again!

Manatee sighting!! Many of my past guests that have traveled to the area this time of year always ask about manatees. Now that most of the manatees have moved to warmer waters like local springs and power plants, a great spot to see them is the Manatee Viewing Center in Apollo Beach about an hour away from the Indian Shores area. There is a power plant that has a warm water discharge year-round. When the waters cool off, many of them come to this location to enjoy the warmer waters. It's quite possible to see tarpon, sharks and other wildlife. Yesterday I headed that way to take some pictures and videos so you all can see what to expect if you choose to go. On top of the manatee observation pier, there is a butterfly garden, Cownose Ray touch tank (call to see hours of operation), snack bar, gift shop and a learning Center. Well worth the drive if you ask me. If you still want to get on the water after that, I would love to get you on the boat to tell you some fun local history, wildlife facts and a sandbar stop if that's what you want to do. Follow my page at Sea-N-Things Boat Trips to see cool stuff all year long. Y'all have fun!

Look at the size of this Lightning Whelk in my right hand! This is the only sea snail in the entire Caribbean area with the opening on the left hand side. Very special! It is about 16 inches long which is basically as big as they get. It is also about 16 years old. They grow about an inch a year. The other shell in my left hand is a Horse Conch. The Horse Conch is Florida's State Shell and can grow up 24 inches long. I've never seen one that big though. Thank you Frenshy for joining me for a Sandbar Excursion today. He is the one who found both sea snails.
We have a beautiful stretch of weather this upcoming Thanksgiving week. It's a great time to get on the water. I have one more trip available Wednesday in the morning and then also a sunset trip Friday evening. Reach out to me if you want to go have some fun!

We ran into a pod of dolphins Sunday that just wanted to hang out. Kona, the dog on board was very happy to have the visitors. I can't help but love seeing the dolphins interact with each other like they were doing. Have a great day!

Hello my friends! We had a great dolphin experience yesterday. Many of my past guests were asking about the dolphin named Radar that we have seen for the past 9 years. We saw him for the first time since the storms. It was so good to see him!
