Today we wrapped up our time in Glacier National Park. We loved spending the past few days exploring the Many Glacier entrance, including the Grinnell Lake hike complete with a moose spotting, as well as the adorable town of Whitefish!

We head for home today and are beyond grateful for another epic National Park adventure! Banff, Jasper, and Glacier wowed us from start to finish. More than anything, we are forever thankful for time off the grid as a family. It’s a needed reminder of how much I cherish my little nucleus and our adventures together. 🥾🎒🏔️🇨🇦☀️🚠💙🙌

After a long day of travel, we crossed the border from Canada to the US and arrived in Whitefish, Montana last night. Today we entered Glacier National Park and explored the iconic Going-to-the-Sun Road. Our favorite hikes were the Highline and Hidden Lake Trails, complete with waterfalls, mountain goats, and bear spottings. We ended the day refueling at Herb at Omni and can’t wait for more Glacier adventures tomorrow! 🏔️🎒🥾❤️

Italian for “iron road”, Via Ferrata is an assisted climbing experience along 5 breathtaking routes on the cliffs above Mt Norquay. Today, we took this challenge on and climbed ladders, crossed suspension bridges, and marveled at the grandeur of the mountain vistas that surrounded us in Banff National Park! We relaxed afterwards in the beautiful town of Banff and have loved every minute of our Canadian adventures! 🥾🏔️🚠🎒🇨🇦❤️🙌

We packed as much into our last day in Jasper National Park as possible! Aaron and I started our day with a long hike in search of iconic red Adirondack chairs at the summit and found them! We rented a 4 person SUP at Beauvert Lake and gave the kids a chance to discover a polar plunge. The Jasper SkyTram was worth the trip for the epic views, trying poutine at the Summit Restaurant, and teaching Izzie how to play euchre! We ended the day with trying another Canadian culinary delight, Beaver Tails, before heading to Aalto Pyramid Lake restaurant at Pyramid Lake for the best dinner to date! We will miss this epic NP but can’t wait for more adventures tomorrow! 🥾🎒🇨🇦🌊🚣🏻‍♀️🛶🚠🏔️🧀🍷🌄❤️

A boat tour of Maligne Lake and Spirit Island were the highlight of our day in Jasper National Park! We also were in awe of the wildlife that showed up to say hello from bald eagles, elk, loons, caribou, moose, to a grizzly bear! We kept our eyes peeled to our surroundings and weren’t disappointed! Thanks for an outstanding first day, Jasper NP! 🏔️🌊🚤🐃🐻🦅🎒🇨🇦❤️

We spent the day journeying from Banff to Jasper National Park via the iconic Icefields Parkway! Rated as one of the most beautiful drives in the world, we took our time stopping at breathtaking spots on this highway winding along the Continental Divide. We marveled at the Canadian Rockies and all of the mountain peaks, ice fields, sweeping valleys, and wildlife.

We stopped off at Columbia Icefield and rode an Ice Explorer onto Athabasca Glacier before admiring views of the valley from a glass bottomed skywalk. We eventually arrived at our home for the next three nights, Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, and we are stoked to explore all Jasper National Park has to offer!

We spent our last day at Lake Louise exploring nearby trails and taking in the unreal colors of all the glacier fed lakes. Aaron and I got another early morning hike in to Fairview Overlook and the Paradise Valley Trail before the kids joined us to hike to Mirror Lake and Lake Agnes, complete with a stop at the Lake Agnes Tea House to refuel. I joined Aaron for a polar plunge into Lake Louise afterwards and may be the newest fan and believer in ice baths! We are so grateful for our time in beautiful Banff National Park and can’t wait for the adventures that await! Eh, what a day! My husband, Aaron, and I started the day with an early morning 8 mile round trip hike to the Plain of Six Glaciers in Banff National Park. The hike started from our current home of the Fairmont Lake Louise with a gorgeous reflection pond and was made complete with a visit to the Teahouse near the summit.

The kids joined us afterwards for the Golden Skybridge including a skywalk, mountain coaster, rock climbing, and zip line course. We made it to Yoho National Park afterwards and checked out the name-fitting Emerald Lake and Natural Bridge.

We ended the day back at Lake Louise, where Aaron found his favorite new ice bath and polar plunge. Walliser Stube was the perfect place to grab dinner, complete with dark chocolate fondue. Until tomorrow! 🎒🏔️🇨🇦💙

Today we left Calgary to head to beautiful Lake Louise inside Banff National Park! The drive did not dissapoint, and we can’t get enough of the views from our room and the shoreline. We are so looking forward to tomorrow when the real adventures begin! 💙🏔️🇨🇦🙌

After a day of cancelled and delayed flights, we arrived safely in Calgary late last night. O Canada! We had an amazing first day exploring this vast city including downhill luge karting at the site of the 1988 Olympic Games and a bowyak ride down the Bow River! It’s finally summer! I’m shaking off the post Memorial Day blues by dreaming of our summer adventures! While I have been busy wrapping up a client trip for a Fourth of July getaway to Estes Park, Colorado, I’ve also been sneaking in time to plan my own family’s summer adventure! We are glamping outside of Yellowstone, and exploring the Tetons!

When we travel, one of our favorite things to do is find unique lodging near our destination. Whether it’s glamping in an airstream or in a canvas dome like the one featured, it definitely makes for a memory filled stay! This canvas dome is located in Red River Gorge, Kentucky, and includes a clear screen wall with a breathtaking view of the woods, a hot tub on the deck, and even walkie-talkies so the kids can play hide and go seek on the property! Welcome back to Travel Tip Tuesday from Create Custom Travel! Traveling with kids and looking to do some longer hikes? We always stop into a grocery or convenience store and let each kid pick out their own hiking snacks! I am beyond thrilled to welcome Carrie Franzo to the Create Custom Travel team! I am grateful to call Carrie a dear friend, and now a colleague and fellow travel designer.

Carrie’s passion for exploration ignited during her junior year at Indiana University, where she studied abroad in Milan, Italy. This led to her getting a work visa so that she could spend a summer working in London before completing her studies at IU. Traveling across Europe opened Carrie’s eyes to the beauty of our world and fueled her desire to get out and explore as much as possible.

Along with a supportive husband and three kids, ages 13, 10, and 7, Carrie and her family embrace outdoor adventures! They recently completed the 1,000 hours outside family challenge and aim to visit all 50 states before their youngest heads to college.

Carrie adores city escapes in NYC, historic charm in Quebec City, luxurious glamping trips to Zion National Park, and recent trips to Costa Rica. Skiing has also become a new family and personal hobby, and Carrie is well versed in exploring ski towns. While Carrie enjoys traveling far and wide, Hilton Head Island, SC and Watercolor, FL hold a special place in her heart.
