Nothing makes me think YIKES more than seeing online forums and messages of people whose vacations were ruined because they got to their resort or hotel, and it was not as expected.

Now, some of you may not necessarily care too much about where you lay your head at night, you’re there to explore and enjoy the destination.

But for some of you, the resort or hotel experience can absolutely make or break your whole trip.

👉 My advice?

Don’t go off of the photos online, and outdated reviews you’re hoping still reflect the current situation.

I love that I can give my clients dynamic knowledge of resorts and hotels, either by visiting myself or by tapping into my network of trusted people on the ground.

They get the scoop so they don’t end up at a place with shabby rooms, stiff mattresses, and a pool that’s closed for maintenance.

Honest question 👇

You’re not a cookie-cutter person, so why would you settle for a cookie-cutter vacation??

The thing about booking online using a travel website (Sites like Expedia and Booking.com) is that you only see what they want you to.

Whether you’re road-tripping through the US this summer or exploring the Côte d‘Azur, here are my top tips for making the most of Google Maps when you travel 🔎

➡️ Save Offline Maps: Before you go, download maps for your destination by tapping the location, choosing "Download," and voilà! You can now navigate without the internet.

➡️ Explore with Street View: Here‘s a cool trick! Drop the adorable yellow peg man on the map and virtually stroll through the streets. It‘s like being there already. Do this around your hotel to get familiar with nearby places.

➡️ Discover Nearby Places: This is one of my favorites! Use the "Explore" feature to find attractions, restaurants, bars, parks, you name it, all in your vicinity. It‘s like having a local guide right in your pocket!

The beaches of Cinque Terre and the Amalfi Coast are always in the limelight and its left areas like the Spiaggia delle Due Sorelle in Sirolo relatively untouched and unspoiled. But this is a spot you won’t want to overlook when dreaming up your perfect Italian itinerary.

This beautiful area is only accessible by boat and you won’t find anything here but sea stacks, quiet beaches and coves, and turquoise waters as far as the eye can see.

Here’s the thing about booking travel that not enough people realize:

No matter how good your travel credit card or points program is, there are just some hotel perks, pricing, and offers that you won’t get access to unless you work with a travel advisor.

You know that moment when you think of the perfect thing to say but it’s too late because the moment has passed?

It’s the worst.

That’s why when a new acquaintance at a networking event brought up the fact that they didn’t understand why people use travel advisors because they had recently planned their own trip online.

I was so happy that I got the opportunity to speak up and point out the 20 hours this person could have saved herself by letting a travel advisor do the research and book the trip—this person is super busy with her career and kids!

What I didn’t point out is that by booking their hotel on that 3rd party travel website, they left tons of perks on the table, including late check-out and a possible room upgrade.

And if they need to make changes to their flights, they’ll likely be passed from one customer service person to another.

What’s one place you’ve always wanted to have a European Summer?

I’ve always had the Grand Prix in Monaco followed by a month of sipping wine, beach hopping, and shopping in the South of France on my bucket list.

Or

Touring my way all the way through Portugal, from Porto to Lisbon, with a stop in the Algarve for some beach and sun along the way. I love Portuguese wine and really want to spend time learning more about it one of these days.

Or

Island hopping through Greece. First I’d start in Athens for some city exploration, a food tour, and shopping. Then I’d hop over to Naxos, Paros and Crete for immersive exploration, yachting, and eating as much delicious Mediterranean food as I can get my hands on.

In honor of summer being right around the corner, I thought I’d share three of my favorite beach destinations for summer getaways.

Maui
The expansive shores of Wailea Beach and Kaanapali Beach are classics that shouldn't be missed, while smaller Napili Bay Beach and Ho'okipa Beach Park are better for those seeking a more low-key experience.

Outer Banks
The uncrowded shores at Hatteras Island are ideal for fishing and boating. Meanwhile, the beaches in Kitty Hawk and Kill Devil Hills offer optimal conditions for everything from sunbathing and swimming to surfing and skimboarding. The beach at Nags Head offers a pier for sunset watching while the beaches in Duck allow dogs to be off-leash year-round.

Laguna Beach
Located about halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego, Laguna Beach offers miles of unique coastal terrain, ranging from caves to tide pools to seaside bluffs.
