I’ve been out of the studio since I damaged a clavicle joint last January - the longest period I’ve not been making pots in a few decades.

I’m asked how long it takes to create work. It’s a several week process in order to fill a big kiln and because I work everyday the pipeline is always full. Stopping for 16 weeks is like running out of gas and feels so daunting. But I take faith that this is temporary. I’m coming back to Broad Ripple Farmer’s Market in May beginning May 11 with my annual seconds sale-the day before Mother’s Day. Come see me I’ve missed you much.

I didn’t mean to be cryptic when waiting in OrthoIndy on the 7th. I woke up that morning with a swollen and tender bump where my left clavicle meets the sternum. Mark said it looked like a dislocation so we went to OrthoIndy urgent care. After a few X-rays I was told it was a serious sternoclavicular strain-a joint that essentially holds your entire shoulder in place commonly injured by blunt force trauma such as a car accident or being tackled. I have no idea how this happened. Nothing can be done but immobilize my arm and PT scheduled out for 8 weeks. And so no studio work during a time where I am gearing up work for the spring. 10 days out I’m going insane and eating a lot.
