Travel & tourism account for 1 in 10 jobs worldwide. 🌎

I am 1 of those 10.

Many people surely think that my job working in the travel business is to travel for free (I wish!). ✈️🛳🏖🕍⛩

In reality, 90% of my job is spent sitting at my desk designing itineraries for couples, families and clients from around the world. I spend hours, weeks, sometimes even months working on single trips, making sure every detail is thought out and planned. And truly I LOVE doing so!! 💜

The travel industry has been dealing with the coronavirus since January — an additional two full months before it really began impacting daily life here in the US. 😢

Fun fact: travel agents only get paid after their clients actually travel. Many agents have been refunding their hard-earned money back to their clients by the thousands. They’ve spent these last four months working tirelessly to negotiate refunds, postponements and cancellations. And most haven’t had new trips booked now for months.

But we do it without question because we have wonderful, personal relationships with our clients - something that credit card companies & Expedia do not - and know travel will come back stronger than ever once this is all over.

**So when you do decide to travel again - PLEASE use a travel advisor. It doesn't matter who, or what company - we're all on the same team. But please use a live person. Do not click a “book” button on a website ever again.**

To my industry colleagues - you are warriors. Until we all travel again.

If you have never visited Provence, so highly recommend it. “Provincial Romana,” as it was originally named, was the southern area of France that was the first Roman region/territory conquered when it began to stretch outside of its original boundaries. The name Provence stuck and the history and legacy of the Roman Empire is still alive in the region. @ La Provence

Avebury, England just looks like a bunch of rocks, but it is older and (some say) more significant than Stonehenge. It is a henge of three stone circles, built between 3000-2500 BC. Many believe it to be a holy site full of energy. It is incredible.

Glastonbury Abbey was at one time one of the wealthiest entities in Europe, amassing 4 times more wealth than the King of England. King Henry VIII wasn’t too happy about this and sent his army to destroy the complex and execute the abbot. They cut his body into quarters and sent a piece to each of the other major abbots in England as a reminder that he was in charge.

The ʻIolani Palace was the royal residence of the rulers of the Kingdom of Hawaii beginning with Kamehameha III and ending with the imprisonment of Queen Liliʻuokalani after the unlawful creation of a regional government by the United States. It holds a very important place in the hearts and minds of native Hawaiians and is the only royal residence to be in US soil.

Pu’uhonua o Hōnaunau National Park is a hidden little that has such a neat . The site was where former ali’i (or royalty) lived. It also houses a temple to Lono, the god of agriculture. A portion of the land, the pu’uhonua, was a for people who broke the sacred laws. If someone broke one of these laws, the punishment was almost certainly death. If the offender could make it to the pu’uhonua, they were given amnesty and forgive for their transgressions. The only issue? They had to swim across a mile-wide bay to get to the location—while be followed by people trying to kill them. So, you know, not easy. These tiki statues are there to protect the land from evil spirits.
