It’s almost Mountain Mushroom Festival time!
Make plans now to attend the Mountain Mushroom festival, April 27 & 28.
Admission to the festival is free and all events are open to the public.
All events are handicapped accessible.
Diaper Changing Station/Nursing Tent will be available at 177 Broadway.
Port-a-potties will be available on Court St. and Broadway. A handicapped accessible port-a-potty will be available on Court St. near the Courthouse Annex.
Handwashing stations will be available in some areas.
Parking will be available in city lots, church lots, Citizens Guaranty Bank (25 River Drive), and city streets.
Shuttle services will be available from Estill County High School and West Irvine Elementary School to the Estill County School System’s Central Office from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 27 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 28.

If you want to get started on The Moonshine Trail, Leave No Trace Adventures is offering a bus tour option that includes the Donnie & Teresa, The Beattyville Hillbillies, Backwoods Moonshine Museum and our very own Kentucky Mountain Moonshine!
Moonshine is a staple in East Kentucky.
Come take a bus ride with us and visit some off the beaten path places that highlight moonshine. Enjoy a scenic drive through Kentucky backroads while learning about the history of moonshine.

This year, experience the festive spirit in a whole new way as Santa takes residence in the baggage car. Don't miss the chance to share a special moment with Kris Kringle as you journey down the tracks. Please note: Santa will be available exclusively to passengers in the baggage car. Locomotive and caboose riders will enjoy the scenic ride without a visit from Santa. All previously purchased tickets have been seamlessly converted to the baggage car ride with Santa.

Here is the grandstand performance schedule for Mountain Mushroom Festival Irvine, KY!
Come out and enjoy the free live performances at the Grandstand during the festival. The festival is proud to present some great local talent of which we are so proud. Many of the groups/individuals are on Facebook and YouTube. Check them out and you will see what a treat it will be to have them perform.
Besides great talent the festival provides a professional stage/tent and a professional sound system by Darrell Horn Sound. Bring your own lawn chair or for your convenience the festival will have seating available, bleachers and a tent with folding chairs.
The Agate, Gem & Mineral show starts today!
Kentucky Agate, the “gem of the hills”, will again be a main focus at the 13th annual Agate, Gem, & Mineral Show. The agate is prized by collectors world-wide for its bright red bands and other spectacular colors and is only found in Estill and a few other surrounding counties. Agate became Kentucky’s official state rock by the Kentucky legislature in 2000. Agates will be for sale in several forms from slabs to jewelry revealing the hidden beauty.
Other features of the show include mineral specimen sales, fossil sales, petrified wood, demonstrations, and jewelry showing art from rocks and minerals. Much of the jewelry includes skills of the crafter from wire wrapping, silversmithing, faceting, to carving. Lapidary skills of the vendors show how slabs have been cut from rock, shaped and polished cabochons, and other stone-working skills.
The show will be at the Central Office gym of the Estill County Public Schools, 253 Main St., Irvine. Enter at the back of the building. Hours for the show will be: Friday, April 28 – 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday April 29 – 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, April 30 – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.
