We had a very unique charter yesterday, a family flew into Key West from Naples, enjoyed some time in Key West and then up to us in Islamorada. We were able to pick them up from the plane and take them to snorkel the reef and tour the mangroves, then back off to Naples they went. A trip of a lifetime! It was our pleasure to make this coordinate this and make it happen for their ideas!

Have you ever see cormorant eye up close?? They are stunning. This guy was stuck in the mangroves with a hook in its wing, we made a rescue and brought it to the wild bird center for some rehabilitation. Hopefully we can release it soon!

Mangroves are so important for our environment down here. They provide a nursery for juvenile fish and nesting birds, as well as protect our shorelines from erosion and even take out pollutants from the water! These little guys will turn into a great beautiful island one day!

We had a different kind of tour the other day, we shuttled 23 guests from the Nature Conservancy over to Lignumvitae Key for a guided ranger tour.

Lignumvitae Key is a botanical state park, with limestone rock@formation and a history of the Matheson family from the 1900s. There is a house in the island and a guided ranger tour through the hardwood hammocks. If you’re into history and botany, this is a must see! Tours are offered Friday-Sunday at 10am and 2pm.
