Although I am not ready for it yet winter has peeked its head in some of the higher elevations in Yellowstone. If you head North from the Deer View cabin you can reach Sawtelle Peak. It’s a good road so you can take a car or truck up there.Once up there if you wander around and look over the edges it’s a pretty good chance you will run into some Mountain Goats. Even if you don’t see the goats the view up there is amazing!

At the start of last winter while sitting on the deck, we looked up to see 5 antelope. I had no clue there were antelope at this elevation. Today while heading into West Yellowstone for dinner we saw 5 antelope looking healthy as ever.

Last fall we did some exploring. We were about three miles from the Deer View when we came across this happy Moose family. The cow and calf were on one side of the fence and the bull was on the other. Sadly the fence was so high they couldn’t get over. We watched them for a while and we continued on our Journey to West Yellowstone for some lunch. Yes that right you can take the side by side right from the Deer View into West Yellowstone. It’s a beautiful ride.

Before we know it the snow will be gone and it will be time to tee off or load up some rafts and run the rivers. Or if that’s not your thing the side by side trails accessible from the front yard of the Deer View will keep you occupied.

Today the West Yellowstone entrance to the Park opened. Nothing like Yellowstone in the spring time. All the new baby animals, the bears coming out of hibernation, waterfalls and other beautiful sights to take in. Our summer is starting to fill up get your reservation while there is still plenty of room to pick your dates.

We got some awesome new co****le boards. Thanks Dexter & Alli Gunter. The weather was perfect for yard games and a BBQ last weekend. But, Fall is my favorite time of year in Island Park. The days are warm, the nights are cool. There is less people in the park. The animals are out and about. If you are looking for a getaway we have a September special $400 a night. The cabin sleeps 12, sits on the golf course, is minutes away from the river, restraunts, West Yellowstone, ATV trails and the Sam Patch new grocery store. Message us if you are interested.
