Isle of Palms Police Dept continues to monitor developments with Hurricane Debby which is officially a CAT 1 hurricane. South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster declared a State of Emergency on August 4th 2024. Currently, the City of Isle of Palms is under a Tropical Storm Warning and a Storm Surge Warning. Additional officers and supervisors are being brought in beginning Tuesday 8/06/2024 and remaining until this event is over. Department command staff continue meeting with City of Isle of Palms leadership. The police department’s emergency plan has been implemented. We will continue to keep you updated as information becomes available on our social media channels and online at iop.net
Please stay off roadways starting tonight and during this event to keep yourself and first responders safe. Do not drive around barricades or traffic control devices. Remember Turn Around Don’t Drown!

More sandbags have been ordered and are arriving today.
•IOP City offices will operate normal business hours today August 5, 2024. Many City Hall services are available online at Virtual City Hall: iop.net/virtual-city-hall
•Normal garbage collection on Monday, August 5, 2024. The rest of the week will depend on Charleston County Landfill operating schedule. Residents should not place garbage and recycling bins out until your pickup day is confirmed. This debris could clog storm drains making flooding conditions much worse.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to review their safety plans and start to implement them. Time for making adjustments to those plans is closing fast. Guidelines for developing a safety plan can be found at: South Carolina Emergency Management Division and on their app.
