Welcome 2021 and another year at Connie's Beach Cottage! With everything going on in the world - getting away for a few days on the beautiful Isle of Palms is always a wonderful time to spend away from home!! It's perfect so you can refresh your soul! This winter I was able to share my childhood with two different families who stayed 3 and 2 months. I actually stayed 75 days last spring self hibernating! I mean come on...chance of snow in CT or beach walks and palms trees? What would you choose? Now is the time to start thinking about your time away from home in my home. Feel free to reach out to check availability. I will be posting the rates in a separate post! Connie's is in a perfect location to self hibernate. My home is at the end of a road that leads directly to the beach...just a five minute walk (or 10 if you walk slow like me)... and a short drive from so many towns that you can bring your own cooler and not even have to go to a store! But because of covid I ask that you respect the guidelines .... wear a mask, wash your hands and social distance from those not in the home with you. Unfortunately, it has touched the lives of many that I know...both being infected and passing away. Please keep safe and I hope you can come relax at the beach!

Good morning!! The beach is waiting for you - with proper precautions!! Connie's has June 28 - July 10th and July 19-24 open only at this time! All other weeks are booked till August. When I was at Connie's last October we did some lil changes....we haven't updated the website yet but will be working on that in the next few weeks...so I thought I would add the photos here! To all those that love Connie’s as much as I do, cross fingers, toes and even all your hair that this yucky storm heads further east. I just got the message below on fb. Connie’s has over 4 feet of water during Hugo and I had to redo the 1/2 bath and pit in 2016 ....everyone else on the coast - BE SAFE!!??

Family matters have taken up some time lately. Today I go off script and post a photo of my uncle and I ....cancer took another good man and I will miss him very much! I wish I had memories of him with me at Connie's but by the time he came to visit us we lived on the other side of Charleston so he never got to spend time there...he was more of a mountain person (especially Maine) although he loved to fish....Hug someone you love today and make a phone call to someone you haven't talked to in a while...I am sure they will love hearing from you....

I would suggest all of my Connie’s friends ‘like’ John Rector’s Beach Studio and follow him on Instagram. He posts wonderful videos of the area and since most of you will be sleeping in while you stay at Connie’s - you should see what you are missing!!

I took this photo about 3 years ago in May. I was standing at the Battery in downtown Charleston facing West Ashley. The round building that is approximately in the center of the photo is the "round" Holiday Inn. I never stayed there...but passed by there many times after I moved off IOP and lived on James Island but still went back and forth often. It's a great spot to get sunset shots...as you can see...and the Battery is well worth walking around.

Just to update ya'll - there is one weekend left in May that you can book, 2 weeks in June are still open, July 6-13 is still available and August 10-17 is booked...but for now...here's the crabcake and fries I had at Morgan Creek Grill....it was very yummy!

Good morning friends. My guests at Connie's took a trip to Page's Okra Grill like I always encourage everyone to do...Steve had the Filet Mignon Salisbury Steak...I just might have to try this next time instead of my regular flounder and rice/gravy! And I even received a photo of his 2 little ones (posted with their permission)

Good morning friends! Yes - if you are following Connie's then you are a friend of mine! Means you like the sun, sand, surf, sunrises, sunsets and food!! I am fortunate that my guests this week at Connie's are willing to share photos of their food and 2 of their adorable kids! So Steve shared a photo of his Crusted Halibut from Acme (which is right on IOP - not a far drive at all)...and said it was the best he has ever had ... and he lives on Cape Cop so it's not like he's never had halibut before! For any future guests - please text me photos of food and locations for me to share for other guests...because I think most of you know...I have my favorite places and my favorite foods and there are only so many times you want to see photos of flounder, rice/gravy, hush puppies and banana pudding!

This has been my view of coming back from the beach on IOP for many years....but not during the years that I was young. The house on the right was not there...and I have no memories of the house on the left as well. There certainly were not walls on both sides of the walkway and the path was not as clear as it is now. There are many walkways to the beach from Palm Blvd. (the road closest to the beach and the main road) and you will find them every few streets...fortunately this one is right at the top of 37th. Only a quick 5 minute walk to the beach...or maybe a bit longer for people like me that take their time. Only one weekend left in May still available. Hope you decide to come visit us at Connie's!

Who doesn't want to be sitting at the beach like this right now?? When this drink was bought it was yummy sweet tea from Melvin's...I can't swear that is still what it was by the time it got to the beach! Remember always**** whatever you bring to the beach - you leave the beach with. There are bright yellow garbage cans at most access points! And no bottles! No one wants to step on broken glass at the beach!

Good evening everyone! For those of us in the northeast - are you as done with snow and sleet as I am? Had some this week! So the following link showed up on my wall today and I just had to share this. This is a blast from the past for me. I drove over this bridge the first time in 1974 with my learners permit and was probably fearless. The older I got the more nervous it made me. Now we have the lovely Arthur Ravenel Bridge...it even has an annual run...which you missed for this year because it was today! Take a look at the video in this link! Has anyone else driven over the Cooper River Bridge? This is the bridge that connected Mt. Pleasant to downtown Charleston.
