I feel that I have to post what REALLY HAPPENS in a situation like this.
My clients were scheduled to depart out of Baltimore this weekend for this cruise. Now I totally get the horrible circumstances that make this actual cruise unobtainable. My clients were driving down to Baltimore. Now, the cruise departs from Norfolk, VA which would add an additional 5-6 hours on to my clients already 5+ hour drive for a total of 10-11 hours! My clients cannot do this. CARNIVAL WILL NOT REFUND THE CRUISE. They said "oh well", if passengers read the 40 page long "contract of carriage" you will see that we can change the itinerary or port at anytime and there will be no refund.
My clients spent $4357 for this cruise and cannot go on it AND WILL NOT receive any refund whatsoever. CARNIVAL WILL NOT REFUND THE CRUISE. People this is just not Carnival but most cruise lines says the same thing. Once the cruise lines get your money they can do whatever they want.
Clients are checking to see if they can make a claim on the trip insurance they purchased. My "guess" is to no....another loop hole of some kind I'm sure. Be smart, be aware and read everything. With cruises, you may NOT get what you think you are paying for. My suggestion is to GO ALL-INCLUSIVE LAND VACATIONS.
