The 2023 U.S. Women’s Hot Air Balloon National Championship is taking place in Jackson County for the first time ever from July 16-21.

Jackson County Friends,

As you know over the last few years I have been the “BalloonMeister” of the Hot Air Jubilee and this year I’m on staff for the “US Women's National Balloon Championship also located in Jackson, Michigan. We are still looking for great target locations for these balloons to navigate to , for target placements. We have had tons of responses and I’m still looking for more.

If you live with in 10 nautical miles of Ella Sharp park and have a beautiful piece of property that has at minimum a 200 ft x 200 ft area that is clear of power lines , trees, buildings etc , we would love your information to potentially use this location as a target through out the weeks ahead.

We have all Jackson County Schools on board, multiple churches with huge areas, and most parks. Take a few minutes and fill out this form if you meet the above criteria, and you will be added to our database. Feel free to share!

These sites would be used early mornings think 6am- 10am and some evenings think 6pm - 9pm. Thank you Jackson already for the great responses!

We are looking for property in and around Jackson County that can be used for scoring locations for our competition pilots attending the US Women's National Balloon Championship July 16-21 and the Hot Air Jubilee weekend, July 21-23. If you are willing to allow a scoring team and the Event Directors to place a target at your location, please use the form below to submit your willingness to participate.

Areas must be at least:
-200 ft. by 200 ft. or larger!
-Completely free of obstructions in the above dimensions (trees/power lines/buildings, etc.)

Our next event is one of my favorites. Typically lots of good flying and targets that challenge one’s ability, but there is also a ton of stuff to do when the flights are happening. Stop out at this short drive from Jackson to see us but to also attend this wonderful festival. I will be proudly flying the Oaklawn banner again this year!
