Possible Virginia Spring Large Group Hunt Information
I have been able to secure a large tract of land (over 700 acres) which was part of a Civil War battlefield for a large group outing. I have brought a few small groups (6 or fewer) to this property, and it has produced Union and Confederate bullets, buttons and artifacts as well as mid to late 1700s colonial artifacts. We have a limited window and unique opportunity because much of the land has recently been cleared of timber. Clear cut is only good for a limited time before it gets covered with undergrowth - usually a couple of seasons. We have only detected a very small portion of this land and with very limited numbers. Here are some details:
how many - maximum number of participants will need to be around 100 (some spots already claimed by History Hunt Club Members)
when - May 20-21, 2024
how much - $300 per person
where - Central Virginia (Richmond, VA closest major airport)
what - Civil War battlefield, colonial homesites, non-mineralized soil, cut-over timber much fresh and some seasons old, large woods, creeks, pine woods
At this time, I am performing a feasibility study before making anything official. I feel like this is a good opportunity on a large tract of historical land that will soon be off limits due to small pine re-growth (likely two seasons max). Temps during that time of year range from the 50s to the high 70s. It is not going to be a cake walk - hunting timber cut over and woods. I am excited at the possibilities on this large farm based on what we have found in a very short time with a very small numbers. So much of the land was not easily huntable until now and had been that way for the last 15-20 years. If you think you would sign up, please reply and indicate if it would just be you or you and guests. I need to get a tentative head count.
