While many rush to get weeds under control by mowing or even spraing, weeds play a vital importance in the life of a hen. The tallest weeds pictured here are man’s achilles heel … Crabgrass!! Hens forage for bugs, worms and seek out the coolness of the shaded cover while having conversations amongst themselves 😂. Don’t forget they need refuge taking from rainstorms and wind if pop up T’storms block their path back to the coop ! Don’t stress …. You can be creative with your landscape and still be in harmony with nature. Have a blended sustainable farm and homestead means you won’t have a pristine garden. The Mason Sycamore Creek Garden Club visited yesterday evening to learn how to craft natural herbal and floral wreaths while enjoying a light fare of lavender culinary items and wine offerings from Villa Vino Winery ... our newest collaborative. Happy Mother's Day to all the beautiful moms and ladies who joined us yesterday for our 1st wellness event and high tea. We were blessed with a beautiful day and energy. Everyone enjoyed their time visiting, making herbal wreaths from freshly picked herbs (literally while we were doing the class) 💕✨, the essential oils mini session by PS Sunflowers and reiki. Yoga next ??

Sending a thank you to the gracious people from Kalamazoo who came out to support the event today on a blustery day! I think winds peaked @ 45mph today on the west side of MI! I could not have done it without the support and set up/tear down by my two nieces who have been there since Nellie's was founded. Nellie's Lavender Estate is founded on the core principle to grow the finest quality French lavender, source and produce high quality, organic specialty food items, pastries and sweets, pampering products and beautiful adornments to connect body, soul and home. Nellie's Lavender Estate was founded in memory of my grandmother, Nellie, who shared her love affair with mother earth in everything that she did and created. This energy and passion was infused in my spirit at a young age. As I turn back to my roots, I am inspired to ignite that same light in all of you, which is reflected in both our physical farm, farm store and our NEW ADDITION --- Nellie’s Lavender & Trading Co. This Trading Co. is our working studio concept which allows for you to also engage in the making of products! Located at 634 N. Mechanic St., Jackson, MI 49202.

Monday/Wednesday/Friday: 5 - 8 p.m. Tuesday: 1 - 5 p.m. Thursday: Closed for private events & classes. Saturday: (currently by appointment only) Sunday: (2nd Sunday of each new month 12 - 4 p.m.)
