Lazy summer days and nights on Manasota Key. Couldn't think of a better getaway. The water is warm, plenty of sea life. Catch a pod of dolphins or an aggregation of manatees swimming by. Rent a kayak or a sup board and explore the mangroves during the day. Enjoy great dining and local bands in the evening. Come home to one of the most modern and comfortable villas, just across the street. Weeks in August still available.

The Royal Tern can be found along Florida beaches and as far north as North Carolina in the winter months. In summer, they can be found as far north as Massachusetts. You may also find them in Southern California, year round in the Caribbean, parts of Mexico, Central America and South America.

One of the most recognizable wading birds that frequents Florida waterways, is the great blue heron. You will often see these guys wading along the shoreline of our beaches or in the mangroves. An adult heron can grow to approximately four feet tall with an impressive wingspan of six feet!
No worries. Don’t bother them and they won’t bother you. 😝

Did you know that Gopher tortoises 🐢 are commonly found on Manasota Key? They dig deep burrows for shelter and forage on low-growing plants. Gopher tortoises share their burrows with more than 350 other species of animals 🥰
In Florida, the tortoise and its burrow are protected under state law.

Did you know that white pelicans are the ultimate snowbirds? ☺️ They arrive yearly here in the fall and stay until spring.

These big birds are technically called “American pelicans” because they migrate from the plain states to the gulf shorelines.

While you are staying at The Little Pearl, watch for these incredible birds who love hanging out in the mangroves!

Bird watching is a fun way to spend a day on Manasota Key.

Double crested cormorants are one of many birds you will see along our coastline. Here, a juvenile sits atop a mile marker along the intracoastal waterway.

You will often see them with their wings outstretched, drying their wings in the Florida sun. Although they hunt underwater, their feather are not waterproof!

Did you know that sea turtles nest along our beaches from May 1 to October 31? Hundreds of nests were marked by Sea Turtle patrol just along Manasota key! If you are lucky, you’ll spot one of these giant turtles 🐢 coming up onto the beach to nest. If you are extremely lucky you will have the amazing honor of watching them hatch!

Way at the southern most tip of Manasota Key is Stump Pass State Park. A beautiful beach awaits but you can also walk the mile along the beach or along the hiking trail to get to the pass. Here you will find beautiful white sand beaches and often nesting shorebirds. This is Paradise.

When you stay at The Little Pearl, you almost always see dolphins 🐬 frolicking in our Gulf waters 🌊 if you get lucky, you’ll see one of our slow moving manatees.

We have 4 beaches along Manasota Key. Englewood Beach is a short stroll away.
