🇵🇹 Travel is back! Our June trip to Portugal is a GO! I’ll be reaching out to all of our travelers this week to update you on pre-tour preparations.
In the last two months, we’ve quietly traveled to France and Spain. I am happy to report that both trips met and exceeded our expectations. Yes, there are a few more hurdles than pre-Covid, but the extra work is worth it.

🇬🇷 Our 3 hour catamaran cruise through Santorini’s caldera featured three stops for swimming, one of which was over hot springs from the volcano. Dinner was grilled on board and was delicious. The cruise ended with a spectacular view of the sunset (pictures coming soon).

Even with a carefully planned itinerary, each day still requires in-the-moment decisions. We are so thankful for the wisdom that can only come from years of experience. Thank you, Kostas!

🇬🇷 Oh, my. Mykonos was worth the wait! What a beauty. We are here during one of the last weeks of the tourist season. Within a week or so, most restaurants and shops will close for the off-season. We enjoyed strolling the maze of streets, had a delicious dinner at the Funky Kitchen, and drinks by the water. Tomorrow, we are moving on to Santorini.

🇬🇷 When traveling, our #1 request is to “be like water” and adjust to the unexpected. Today, we were unable to take our ferry to Mykonos due to a strike. So, our tour director took us to spend the day in Naphlion, the first capitol of modern Greece. What a lovely town! Later we checked into a posh hotel (St. George) that Go Ahead Tours was able to book for us last minute. Tonight we had another stunning view of the Acropolis while dining on salmon, pasta, baklava, and gelato.

🇬🇷Tonight, we ended our day the same way we started...with a view of the beautiful Acropolis! Our restaurant had an open terrace on the 3rd floor, so we dined while taking in the beautiful scenery.

🇬🇷 Cape Sounion excursion: we visited the Temple of Poseidon with Doric pillar remains. We had a lovely, picturesque drive along the Aegean Sea!

🇬🇷 Day 2 in Athens was amazing! After a delicious breakfast, our expert local guide (Andie) took us on a walking tour of the ancient Acropolis, site of the Parthenon, Temple of Athena Nike, and Erechtheion.

🇬🇷 Our first day in Athens! We arrived around 10am, settled in to our hotel, and then explored the tallest hill (via funicular) for great views of Athens. Lunch was a mixture of Greek staples like cheese pie, Greek salad, and pretty much anything with lots of feta. Our welcome dinner included mousaka, salad, fish, and lemon mousse. Tomorrow, we will explore Acropolis, which can be seen in the distance.

1) Contact your bank AND credit card company about your travel plans.
2) Contact your cell phone company about international fees.
3) Contact the airline if you have dietary restrictions.
4) Pack a bathing suit so that you can swim during our Santorini catamaran excursion
5) Contact Tamara or Carrie if you want us to handle your tip distribution while on tour.
