And we are off to Asia!

Specifically Hong Kong, two locations in Taiwan and 4 locations in the Philippines. Flying the amazing in business class (similar but a little better than Delta One). 15.5 hours in the air.

Excited about our next several days in Hong Kong to start this trip off great!

Nice, France is a smaller area we visited while on the Viking Sky. During the holidays they had various areas decorated and carnival like rides for families to enjoy. Wonderful architecture throughout as well.

Each Sunday they have a flower market (& other goodies) where the locals go and lock-up their bouquet of flowers for their home for the week. It is fairly large and a great way to spend some time. They even have stands set up where you can get Prosecco 🍾.

Our ship was docked in the harbor making for a beautiful backdrop along the ride to & from the area.

Miracle Square is truly a masterpiece. The most famous of all the beautiful architectural structures is the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

It was fun trying to get our Leaning pics correct📸. There are some great spots for hot chocolate, espresso and of course wine in the area surrounding these beautiful structures.

This is a must see on your trip to Italy!

Word of Caution: this is an area of Italy that has a lot of gypsys (thief’s). Our tour guide called them all out very loudly throughout since they were on the hunt for unsuspecting tourists. Make sure you have your cross-body bags that are slash resistant and lockable zippers. On an earlier posts, I show you about the one I have. It’s a great way to protect yourself on trips (including in the USA).

San Miniato is a quaint town known for the harvesting of truffles in the Tuscan countryside. This enchanting village was worth the narrow streets to stroll the cobblestone streets and admire their medieval architecture that stretches back to Roman Times.

The Vatican was a spectacular experience. Our private guided tour thru this wonderful and spiritually significant location is a must see. The Sistine Chapel has been a dream of mine. You are not allowed to take pictures inside this chapel. You are to just be in the present and take all of these works of art in. Some of the best pieces of art in many lifetimes. The Pantheon was another magical place in Rome. The original structure was destroyed by fire. The present building was dedicated around AD 126.

It is a former Roman temple and in AD 609 a Catholic Church (Basilica of St.?Mary and the Martyrs).

The Portico has large granite Corinthian columns. The circular picture is the coffered concrete dome that is open at the center (oculus) to the sky. It is still the world’s largest unreinforced dome.

Everything inside is extremely well preserved even after all these years.

So many beautiful fountains throughout Rome, Italy. Many like this one was commissioned in the 1500’s. Some took up to 309 years to be finished to what we are blessed to see today.

Tour guides in Rome must take a 3-year course and pass a major test before they can even start providing tours. Our tour guide, Barbara, has been a tour guide for 30 years. She was amazing. I’m excited to find her for all my clients traveling to Rome!

The iconic Roman Colosseum. Such an amazing piece of architecture.

They are carefully working on the arch. This arch is known as the Arch of Constantine to celebrate Constantine’s victory over Maxentius. The arch sits between the Roman Colosseum and Palatine Hill.

The underground area is the hypogeum. A complex area with trap doors that allowed fighters and animals to appear. It also had storage space for an entire show’s worth of entertainment.

The white stones are what’s left of the emperors seating area of the Roman Colosseum.

Rome deserves several posts. This one is around the Trevi Fountain. They are restoring the fountain but the walkway over the fountain actually helps you see even more detail. The make shift “pool” is just so tourists will continue to throw in their coins. It is a very large income for Rome. But I’ll wait till the fountain is completed to make my wish . But highly recommend still seeing this amazing sculpture, the craftsmanship is truly impressive.

An amazing wine tasting next to the Pope’s summer home. The restaurant is and it is a lovely experience. They even had delicious homemade pasta that was amazing. The terrace and many tables over looks Lake Castel Gandolfo who was created by a volcanic crater.
Michelin rated restaurant will not disappoint. Locals frequent this beautiful spot. Established 1882 (not a typo)
